  • About the event

    It is the most important event of the Salvadoran community in the USA, an event to enjoy with family, celebrating culture and traditions of our country El Salvador.

    The celebration began in the year 1999 becoming  a heritage historical and cultural for our community, the main target is keep alive our culture and traditions, in a celebration with Salvadoran colors, typical food, music and folk dances, culminating with an of the most important traditions of El Salvador that is “la bajada del divino Salvador del mundo“

    The day of the Salvadoran was recognized in United States at the federal level in 2006, with a resolution of the U.S. Congress  Decree on July 18, 2006. However, it was in 1995 when a group of leaders began to develop the idea, which could materialize in 1999 with the first celebration.

    On 6 August it was officially declared the day of the Salvadoran American.

    The resolution H.R. 721 of the chamber of representatives met the following declaration: "a recognition to the hard work of them salvadoreño-americano, for the dedication and contribution to the stability and welfare of the US".
