  • About the event

    Durga Puja, also called Durgotsava and Navaratri, is an annual Hindu festival in the Indian subcontinent that reveres the goddess Durga. A multi-day festival that features elaborate temple and stage decorations (pandals), scripture recitation, performance arts, revelry and processions.
    Since it is a cross culture and cross community festival, it is celebrated by people from all regions of the country and has been enthusiastically received by all the residents in PSN.

    Shantiniketan is one of the largest residential complexes in India. 
    It is home to a diverse populace – hailing from different regions of India and also has a large population of expats from USA, Canada, Australia, China, Spain, Hong Kong and Korea, who have made Bengaluru their home.

    Since it is a cross culture and cross community festival, it is celebrated by people from all regions of the country and has been enthusiastically received by all the residents in PSN. From 2013 -2018, the celebration was on a very strong footing with participation on a huge scale from across the complex.
    Through the previous years, “Ram Leela” and “Raavan Dahan” have been major crowd pullers.
    Celebrity concerts, that of Lucky Ali in 2017 and Ms Usha Uthup in 2018 have been huge success, seeing footfalls of over 8000 in a single evening.
    In 2019, Durgotsav will be a 5-day festival from 3rd October (Thursday) to 7th October (Monday) culminating with the immersion of the deity on 8th October (Tuesday).
