About the event

#DressForPlay2017 is a $250 Online Cosplay Contest.

Contestants will register from February 1, 2017 to March 31, 2017.  From April 1 to April 30, 2017,  the public will vote on the best Cosplay photo.  The winner will be announced on facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Tumblr May 3, 2017, and recieve $250 Cash!

WHAT IS COSPLAY?  Cosplay ( a contraction of the words costume play), is when participants called cosplayers wear costumes and fashion accessories to represent specific characters from comic books and cartoons, video games, and live-action films and television series.

The rapid growth in the number of people cosplaying as a hobby since 1990s has made the phenomenon a significant aspect of popular culture in Japan and some other parts of Asia and in the Western world. Cosplay events are common features of fan conventions and there are also dedicated conventions and local and international competitions, as well as social networks, websites and other forms of media centered on cosplay activities.

100% of all Sponsor proceeds go to ComicCare, Justice League of HOPE, and Arkansas Childrens Hospital.

COMICARE

COMICARE is a 501(c)(3) charity organization created to brighten the day of hospitalized children by bringing them comic books. We recognize how difficult it can be spending any amount of time in a medical facility and try to offer a diversion from an unpleasant time. We often bring costumed "superheroes" to help deliver the comics and we take the time to visit with everyone available.

JUSTICE LEAGUE OF HOPE

The JLH is a community group of cosplayers in Colorado, New York, and the U.K. that use their big hearts and cosplay interest to bring joy and unbreakable smiles to children and those in need. We work in the community to spread hope to those who need it. We also go to hospitals to visit sick children to brighten their days.
