Columbia Salsa Summit,

Columbia, South Carolina, United States Columbia, South Carolina, United States

  • About the event

    WHAT IS A SUMMIT?
A Salsa Congress/Summit is a term used in the Latin Dance Community to define a large gathering or convention of people who come to an event to learn the mechanics and/or improve upon their skills in the dance of Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba, Afro Cuban, Cha Cha Cha and other sub genres. They are taught the history and origins of these cultural dances. These Congresses are being held throughout the country and serve as a network within the Latin Dance Community at large. The people who attend these Congresses are diverse in economics, ethnicity and age. As such, the participants represent a strong voting base in the South Carolina. It is not a rarity to see college students dancing alongside professionals and fathers dancing with daughters. The Latin Dance Community has been recognized by many Universities in the area as a cultural trend that is not only popular, but here to stay. Many of these Universities are either offering dance classes to their faculty and student body or have clubs to facilitate classes and events.
As such, on October 19th, 20th and 21st, 2018, novice to professional dancers, internationally acclaimed instructors, award-winning performers and musical talent will converge on Columbia, South Carolina from all over the globe to participate in this Fifth Annual Congress/Summit. The Congress/Summit will encompass three (3) action-packed days and nights full of instruction, social dance, dining, shopping and recreation. The Columbia Salsa Summit (Taino Dance Co) unites people who are diverse in economics, ethnicity, fitness and age. Professionals, families, students, artists, and athletes dance and socialize together and patronize local businesses.
We have commitments from Universities, Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba and latin organizations, Professionals, and many venues that host Salsa and Bachata, Kizomba events throughout the states of South/North Carolina. Based on the involvement of these groups, attendance is expected to be in excess of 1000-1500 attendees for the three days of the Congress/Summit. Over 23,000 social media subscribers will see regular event promotions and sponsorship affiliations over the next year leading up to the event. Promotion of our partnership begins the minute you join as a sponsor and continues until the finale: a three-day event - The Annual Columbia Salsa Summit.
The Columbia Salsa Summit (Taino Dance Co, LLC) members have years of combined and diverse knowledge and experience in connecting dancers and artists. The founding of this LLC has created an exciting opportunity to bring together dancers and local businesses such as yours.

    Why should you sponsor?

    NOW IS THE TIME!
For the last 20 years, dancers of Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba have been required to leave the state of South Carolina to attend Congresses/Summits/Festivals in order to enhance their dancing abilities. As such they have travelled to New York, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, Chicago, Charlotte, Georgia, Miami and many other large cities where the community has flourished and thrived. Now, it is Columbia’s time. In the City of Columbia, South Carolina, participants in this community dance at various venues on Wednesday nights (Woody's); Thursday nights (Tryst); Friday Nights (Blue Moon Ballroom, Alegria) and Saturday night (Blue Moon Ballroom, Tryst, Social and Alegria). Six out of seven nights a week the members of the community dance; or take lessons from local instructors.
The time is now because the City of Columbia has reached a point of participation where the average participant in this community is America’s middle class. The economic power of the community is strong, and because there is a never-ending supply of college students entering the trend, the longevity of the trend is infinite.
The Mission of the Columbia Salsa Summit is to inspire health, creativity, learning, culture and fun through dance.
It is further the Columbia Salsa Summit is to make it an affordable annual event in the City of Columbia, South Carolina, providing high-quality dance instruction, entertainment, social opportunities, sponsorship and vendor affiliations. The average cost of a Congress/Summit in the aforementioned Cities is in excess of Two Hundred Fifty Dollars ($250.00) for a full event pass. We, at the Columbia Salsa Summit seek to make it affordable with a fee of One Hundred Fifty Dollars ($150.00) for a full-event pass through the participation of our sponsors. Also, unlike other Congresses, we are making businesses integral to this Congress and the life of the community. We are placing our sponsors on our website so that over 23,000 subscribers can visit and utilize your services. We want to make you an Official Provider of the 2018 RVA Salsa Bachata Congress.
