NURTURING WELLNESS GROUP FOUNDATION SETS FALL FUNDRAISER
September Event to Raise Money for Young Adults Struggling in School, Life
Metropolitan Detroit, MI - A night of food, fun, and entertainment awaits guests at the second annual, “Bridging the Gap for Humanity” fundraising banquet this fall in Romulus.
The event is set for Saturday, September 14, 2019, at the Sheraton Detroit Metro Airport Hotel on Merriman Road. It will benefit the Nurturing Wellness Group Foundation, a Detroit-area 501(c)(3) non-profit organization focused on assisting struggling youth and young adults with life skills.
“I’m thrilled that so many people are looking forward to this event. It will be a great night out for such a great cause,” said Nurturing Wellness Group Foundation founder, Terri Brinston. “The Sheraton is going to provide an elegant and exciting backdrop for all of the fun we have in store. Billy T. Detroit, our very own on-air radio personality will be the Master of Ceremonies. Mildred Gaddis, an esteemed 41-year radio host veteran, is the keynote, and John E. Lawrence, a musical genius, guitarists, and educator will be providing our entertainment.”
Nurturing Wellness Group Foundation was established in 2017 and works with schools and other community partners to identify youth and young adults who are struggling, evaluate their issues, and guide them to the proper support interventions. They also offer courses designed to build confidence, motivation, focus, commitment, and emotional stability.
Nurturing Wellness Group Foundation’s goal is to enroll 200 high school students and young adults in their program in the 2019/2020 school year. By building students and families’ capacity for adaptation, self-management, career and employment preparation, self-advocacy, and learning, Brinston hopes to help at-risk students and young adults achieve their full potential.
“I believe our school systems teach many valuable skills, but they don’t address all the aspects necessary for children to succeed and thrive in life,” she said. “When we work together and give students and young adults access to the support and resources they may be lacking at home and school, we can fill the gap and help them be successful contributors to our community.”
