Blackpool Pride Festival,

Blackpool, England, United Kingdom Blackpool, England, United Kingdom

  • About the event

Join us in our mission to make our community safer for all whilst celebrating our equality and the full diversity of Blackpool.

2023 Pride was held in the iconic Blackpool Winter Gardens. This attracted over 3000 people for 8 hours of back-to-back music and entertainment.

Alongside this we also have the Pride Parade along the world famous Blackpool Promenade, which continues to grow, year on year and was the biggest ever in 2023.

It saw over 50 organisations including all emergency services, LGBTQ+ youth groups, Blackpool FC, Blackpool Scouts, Co-op and Sainsbury’s, 1500 walkers and hundreds of spectators join us to walk the parade as a celebration of diversity and inclusion in the town.

Our Summer Blackpool Pride Festival 2024 is set to be held on the brand new Talbot Gateway project in the heart of Blackpool’s LGBTQ+ community.

Pride Blackpool is welcomed and supported by Blackpool Council each year.

The committee consists of professional people from all walks of life, including community members, business owners and charity leaders.

We currently have 15k+ Facebook followers and 1800 Instagram followers with a monthly reach of over 50k.

Throughout the year local businesses, venues and charities work with Pride to hold awareness raising and fundraising fringe events.

This year will see a particular focus on Arts & Culture, embracing our partnerships with theatre groups, art galleries, cinemas and other offerings to create a programme of events for everyone.

    Why should you sponsor?

It is no great surprise that the number of major brands participating in Pride events has been rising rapidly over recent years. But why?

Of course, backing the LGBTQ+ community is the right thing to do, but companies are going to make decisions with their bottom line in mind.

However, profit and sponsorship are not in competition with one another, but rather go hand in hand. Below are some important facts that brands involved in Pride should be aware of.

Sponsorship Exposes You to a Brand Loyal Audience

The LGBTQ+ community are arguably the most brand-loyal customers. 76% say they are more likely to buy from a brand that they see as LGBTQ+ friendly. In addition, the community also has a powerful voice when it comes to boycotting brands they see as unfriendly.

Queer People Often Have More Disposable Income

The LGBTQ+ community is often in a position to spend more money. Gay male couples make on average 55% more money than straight couples. LGBTQ+ couples are also less likely to have children. These factors leave more disposable income.

Let Your Employees Embrace the Rainbow

Sponsoring Pride is a great way to attract LGBTQ+ consumers to your business. It can also boost morale within your company. Pride sponsorship is an easy way to let LGBTQ+ employees know that they are valued members of the workplace.

Even Those Outside the Community Support Pride

It’s all about inclusivity rather than exclusivity. Pride events are a safe space where everybody is welcome and our allies are a vital part of that. It’s not just LGBTQ+ members that will get exposure to your brand but a wider network of people from the local area and further-afield.

    Angela Buckley

Hello, my name is Angela and I am the Vice-Chair of Blackpool Pride Festival.

I have been involved in Blackpool Pride since 2018 and with the help of my fellow committee members, work hard every year to make the event bigger and better.

We face a difficult challenge of putting on a Pride festival for our LGBTQ+ community whilst keeping it accessible and affordable to all. Therefore we rely heavily on sponsorship to fund this event.

For example, road closures for the Parade cost £1500, security costs £5000, stage/arena construction and production cost over £40,000, artists cost over £10,000.

Keeping tickets at a low cost enables more of the community to attend but means profits from ticket sales are less than £20,000.

Please consider supporting us, thank you.
