Beards Against Drugs,

Rip Rap Roadhouse, Dayton, Ohio, United States Rip Rap Roadhouse, Dayton, Ohio, United States

  • About the event

Beards Against Drugs is an event to raise money for Nova House Behavioral and Brigid's path.

In less than six months, nearly 400 people in Montgomery County, Ohio, have died from an overdose.

“We’re on a pace to have 800 people die this year due to overdose in our county,” Sheriff Phil Plummer told NBC News. “Per capita, we’re number one in the nation in overdose deaths.”

The Columbus Dispatch reports the rate of neonatal abstinence syndrome increased to 159 per 10,000 live births in 2015, compared with 19 such hospitalizations for every 10,000 live births a decade earlier.

The condition involves withdrawal from drug addiction by newborns born to mothers who used drugs while pregnant. It can cause breathing problems, seizures, tremors and excessive crying.

Here at Synful we hear and see about these issues everyday. We are teaming up with the Nova Behavioral Health (http://www.novabehavioralhealth.org/ and Brigid's Path (https://brigidspath.org/) to help raise money and awareness of both programs.

We are in the early planning stages of this event and will be posting more information as readily avaliable. We will be looking for sponsors, and volunteers for this event.

    Why should you sponsor?

This event is a very unique event. We have people coming nationally to compete in the beard comptetion.  The proceeds are to help with  the opioid crisis we are suffering in Dayton, Ohio.  Nova House and Brigid's Path are both Non profit and help the community.  We feel have setup a good sponsorship package to show that you care about a very horrific problem we are facing.

    Raymond Whitsel

I have worked in law enforcement for the past 15 years. I have seen the damage that the crisis we are facing here from the front line. I am to make sure the funds are to be distrubitued properly to  Nova House and Brigid's and to make sure our sponsors get the recognition they deserve for supporting such a big cause.
