Mission Statement:
The Austin Jewish Film Festival (AJFF) promotes the love of Jewish films to the Central Texas community by screening movies and programming other events related to movies.
Why We Exist:
To entertain, educate, and provoke thought in the Central Texas community by providing a cinematic examination of Jewish life and culture
To build cultural bridges to the non Jewish community by exhibiting films on topics of concern to the Jewish community
Promote the appreciation of Jewish films and culture through:
○ Film screenings
○ Lights, Camera, Chutzpah (free youth filmmaking workshop)
○ Special Events
○ Group presentations
○ Education
○ Serving as a resource for Jewish film related matters in Austin ○ Adding value to screenings through:
• Additional programming such as director/actor presentations • Cooperative events with partner groups
Strategic Objectives:
● To execute a week long Film Festival in a movie theater each year
● To conduct quarterly special events such as film screenings, autonomously or in partnership with other groups
● To remain fiscally responsible and maintain a positive cash flow
The 2019 Film Festival is scheduled to begin in November 2nd, 2019 and will offer a potpourri of notable films, speakers, and panels that our sponsors and festival attendees have come to expect each year. But, how can we do it in a bold and relevant way in a city that has so much offering?
We will open it to the community - to wider audiences - like never before.
Austin Jewish Film Festival: for Jew and you.
A way to drive the message to the growing and curious; a way to awake the ones that never heard about it; an inclusive call to action that will resonate with Austinites and beyond; another expression to show that Jewish culture is broader than what they may though
For 2019 we are broadening the appeal, adding a new PR person to reach other media outlets, creating new visual identity and messaging, filming new online videos to promote awareness and sales, engaging with local authorities and organizations to boost social media word of mouth, interacting with other religious and non-religious communities, and expanding our base of volunteers.
