About the event

ART+HACK+DATA is a social artistry event taking place in Miami Florida from Friday, September 8th through Sunday, September 10, 2017. New media creators and tech-enthusiasts will come together to discuss issues on the digital environment and work with participants to find their own means of creative expression.

Our goal is to solidify the scene of creative makers and together, set the values and new standards to prevent oppression, censorship, or surveillance for future generations.

After the Media Art Weekend, an exhibition of the work created will be on view at the Bakehouse Art Complex through October 2nd, 2017.

We strongly believe the Art+Hack+Data can help bring awareness and educate our audience on digital rights and culture. The City of Miami houses one of the largest Internet exchange points in the world - Terremark Worldwide, Inc., a subsidiary of Verizon Communications. Terremark Worldwide serves as a data cross for 90% of online traffic between South America, North America and Europe. Without careful design and supervision, great data and technology can reinforce the existence of inequalities and harm communities. To understand the impact and scope of these silent agents in our daily communication, we need to identify the biases that inform their role and ensure that they are fair and effective.

MUD Foundation

We are a young non-for-profit organization founded and directed by multimedia artist Rodolfo Peraza. Our mission is to facilitate educational and artistic projects where art, the internet, virtual reality, and data converge in order to create awareness on contemporary digital cultures and footprints. We are hoping this event is just the first of what will be yearly Art+Hack+Datas. We believe this is possible after the so many organizations and people who has been interested in what we are doing in September.
