  • About the event

Hello, I'm Woody, the Head Scarecrow in Allestree and I'm so excited to let you know that On Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th August 2019, Allestree will be taken over by us Scarecrows from 10:00am until 4:00pm for the Allestree Scarecrow Festival

Throughout the village we will come out of our hiding places for just 2 days. You will see lots of different scarecrows ranging from your favourite famous characters to scarecrows that look like the family of humans living in the home nearby, or even animal scarecrows... who knows, but One thing's for sure, there'll be lots to see and a whole lot of fun for all the family!

While you're here, why not have a look around our shops and get yourself something to eat?  There's plenty of places to park and lots to see so make a day of it.

    Why should you sponsor?

When customers get to know your business better, they are more likely to remember you.

Sponsoring our festival is an Inexpensive way to market your business and focusing your efforts on people that live, work, or visit Allestree can provide a greater ROI for businesses based nearby

Sponsoring our event can be well worth the investment. A well-planned event presence can help show local people and visitors that you are a supporter of your community, generate quality leads, deliver great ROI, increase your brand reach and exposure, put you in front of your target market and best of all, build your brand's authority

    Kieran McGeehan

    Hello,

My name is Kieran and I have the pleasure of planning the first ever ‘Allestree Scarecrow Festival’ this year, in the hope that I can bring the community closer together, bring a smile to some faces, attract some trade for Allestree businesses, and raise some funds for a chosen charity.  This year we’ve chosen  (www.macmillan.org.uk).

I have good experience of organising this kind of family event and have resolved not only to make this one a success, but to grow it over the next few years.

Scarecrow festivals are held all over the world and they are especially popular in the United Kingdom, where the use of scarecrows as a protector of crops date from time immemorial.

Today, hundreds of villages all over Britain bring colour, vibrancy, and fun to their communities by holding Scarecrow Festivals, where residents and businesses compete with each other to build the best scarecrow from whatever material they can lay their hands on.  The scarecrows are then displayed outside homes, businesses, churches, clubs, schools and anywhere else you can think of for all to see.
