  • About the event

Each August, all eyes turn to Canada’s most prominent diversity event: African Fashion Week Toronto (AFWT). Buyers, retailers, celebrities, models, VIPs along with thousands of national and international audiences and press come to Toronto, which for five days become the heartbeat of the city, debuting the latest collections of top designers and brand.

African Fashion Week Toronto provides an unparalleled level of brand exposure drawing hundreds of thousands of impressions and opportunities for brands to connect directly with their target market. Home to top influential afro-inspired designers and the next generation of emerging design talent in Canada and from around the world, African Fashion Week Toronto creates regional and worldwide opportunities for brands to build a relationship with their audiences.

Last season alone inside the Royal Ontario Museum, in just five days, AFWT reached over 500,000 millennial consumers through targeted methods of media outreach, show attendees and partnerships. This next season, we are on target to connect with over 1 Million within the same time frame.

We are a diverse group of artists, designers, producers, thinkers, strategists, and visionaries; and together, we are global citizens who believe that true style, and a commitment to making the world a better place, are by no means mutually exclusive. We look forward to collaborating with organizations, brands, designers, professionals, and stakeholders who encourage people to examine, explore, and question the world around them in an accessible and engaging way. Integrity is the core of our being. We believe that by educating, supporting, and promoting sustainability in fashion, we can create a space that transforms personal responsibility to global change.

    Why should you sponsor?

By curating interactive event experiences that are infused with excitement and discovery at the AFWT, the program consistently attracts one of the most desirable, affluent segments of Toronto’s highly diverse Millennial demographic.

Wielding both scale and influence, this group of upwardly-mobile, urban young professionals is just beginning to establish their position as Canada’s largest, most powerful consumer demographic. Each year, AFWT welcomes a largely millennial and repeat audience of more than 2,000 active experience-seekers. During the 5 days program, they come to the venues to be inspired by the fashion collections and programming; and at AFWT, that same passion drives them to discover new experiences in a world of overwhelming choice.

Their hyper connected lives means that they rely on more curated sources of information to inform their purchasing decisions: social media, recommendations from their peers, and hands-on brand experiences that demonstrate value. The AFWT programing is able to reach your target demographic in a manner that resonates.

Local and international top media outlets and online influencers are also taking notice of AFWT. With no showcase ever being the same, it is an event series that keeps guests and media alike buzzing.

Last year, AFWT generated over 500,000 marketing impressions and secured more than 250 news stories, greatly expanding the reach of your brand beyond event guests. We keep journalists and leading influencers across media channels informed, with a new theme for each event keeping them actively reporting on AFWT programming.

And we go even further: By hosting specially-targeted media events, we have been able to capture the interest of niche journalists and bloggers to reach new audiences and generate even more attention for your brand.
