ABACUS Cambridge & OUAPS - Boat Party,

About the event

The annual Boat Party on the Thames is hosted by the University of Cambridge Association of British and Chinese University Students (ABACUS Cambridge), in collaboration with the Oxford University Asia-Pacific Society. 

Approximately 500 attendees, from ABACUS, OUAPS & partner societies, are invited to a night of luxury and grandeur as we sail down the Thames against the backdrop of the glistening London skyline. There will be a myriad of food, drink and entertainment options during the evening, linked to a special theme.

This event not only facilitates cultural exchange between students from all over Asia, celebrating the fusion of Asian Western culture, but also strengthens the bonds between highly qualified students from Cambridge and Oxford pursuing different studies at various levels. 

Why should you sponsor?

With over 800 active members and alumni, as well as a strong and extensive network to partner societies, ABACUS Cambridge is one of the largest student societies at the University of Cambridge. 

Our wide-reaching network spans around the globe, connecting students and alumni in various countries and with diverse backgrounds, studying and working in a range of disciplines at different levels of qualifications (BA, MPhil, PhD, etc). Our members have links to Asian and Western countries, including Hongkong, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, Korea as well as the UK, US, Australia and Canada, with many being mixed or third culture individuals. Subjects studies include Economics, Law, Mathematics, Natural Sciences (Physics, Biology, Chemistry), Medicine, MBA and Finance. 

We send out weekly newsletters (565+ subscribers), post regularly (approx. twice a week) on Facebook (1.2K+ Page Likes) and Instagram (945+ followers, reaching approx. 3550 accounts per month), and can reach out directly to our members via our ABACUS Cambridge members group chat (approx. 400 members).

Mulan Yang

My name is Mulan Yang, the elected External Officer of the Association of British and Chinese University Students (ABACUS) at the University of Cambridge, and Member of the ABACUS x OUAPS Boat Party Organising Committee.

I have just finished two years of Medical Science Tripos as part of my Medicine degree at the University of Cambridge, and am now going into two years of BA Law to obtain a qualified Law degree. With various experiences in project management and event organisation, I am committed to efficient, cost-effective and high quality work to organise our renowned and established annual Boat Party. In addition, direct communication and exchange are highly valued, both with the rest of our executive committee as well as our sponsors. 

ABACUS Cambridge is a well-known student society among especially international students at the University of Cambrigde and thus has strong links and a broad membership base.
