About the event

European University Cyprus together with the Society of International Economic Law are delighted to host the 7th International Conference for Early Professionals and Academics in the field of Economic Law in April 2018, in Cyprus.

The intensive two day conference features presentations on cutting edge topics of international law and discussions between with financial law experts, promising to greatly enrich your understanding of International Economic Law, on matters .such as:
1)Bilateral and regional economic integration and the multilateral trading system;
2)Comparative economic law, focusing on how international economic law interacts with laws, institutions and actors at the domestic level;
3)International economics, philosophy, sociology, politics.
International developments and economic law, which may inter alia, refer to Brexit, the OECD-led tax Initiatives international financial regulation, cryptocurrencies and monetary affairs.
4) The interaction of IEL branches with other branches of law governing intellectual property, human rights, environment, sustainable development, food safety
5) International trade, investment, competition, monetary and financial law.

Venetia Argyropoulou

Venetia Argyropoulou is a Law Instructor at the European University Cyprus. She is educated in both civil and common law and has been actively practicing law in both Greece and Cyprus, while she has successfully passed the B.Bar in California, where she obtained her Juris Doctor. She has obtained her bachelor degree from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, a Master Degree in Maritime Law from the University of Oslo and a Master in International Public Law (specialization in Financial, Commercial and Investments Law) from the same University. Her PhD is conducted at the University of Tilburg, where she constitutes a member of the Center for Transboundary Legal Development (CTLD).

Adding to her education, she has worked in one of the biggest law Firms in Thessaloniki, while she is currently leading the commercial department of one of the oldest and most well-known Firms in Cyprus. She has, inter alia, worked as a scientific researcher for the University of Cyprus and as a Lecturer for the University of West London. She is a member of the Spark Legal Network and the Cyprus Correspondent of the IBFD, Tax Analysts, International Bar Association’s Taxes Committee, as well as the World Bank’s Women, Business and the Law Initiative.

Additionally, she is listed in the European Court of Auditor’s list of Experts in Financial Law and she has been selected as the best international law lawyer of Cyprus for 2016 by Best 100 and International Advisory Experts. Lastly, she is the IBA’s Individual Tax and Private Client Committee Scholar for 2017.
