Beat the Streets, Inc. is having our 3rd annual BBQ picnic celebrating graduates who dropped out of school, but returned to school to complete their educational credits and/or obtain their GED. We are honoring those young adults that accomplished this achievement after overcoming adverse situations, such as: a death of a parent, bullying, juvenile incarceration, etc. These at-youth risk made the decision to complete their education regardless of their circumstances and we commend them for that. The event is being held at the Contra Loma Regional Park in Antioch, CA.
.
We are celebrating with the graduates with their families, a guest count of up to 50, acknowledging their great achievement and will provide 10 honorees with scholarships to aid in their first semester of college. This is to encourage them to continue their education to become more successful and contributing adults.
We are requesting sponsorship of this event with monetary or in-kind donations to purchase the picnic necessities of plates, silverware, napkins, charcoal, lighter fluid, hotdogs& buns, hamburgers & buns, as well as soft drinks. We also need sponsorship of the picnic area rental and graduation cake, which will come from a local vendor and supporters.
I, Tracy Tate Jones, am the founder and president of Beat the Streets, Inc. I started the program 12 years ago to mentor to the young adults in my neighborhood. Since then, we have grown to include computer center access, mentoring, tutoring, educational workshops, employment workshops, to name a few. This organization is my give-back to the community.
