21st Annual Ride for the Child,

About the event

This event is about raising awareness and money for a good cause. We do this event during National Child Abuse Prevention Month to continue the discussion that abuse is alive and among us, and that by educating parents on how to be good parents, we can help reduce abuse and neglect.

Why should you sponsor?

Due to our state’s poor rankings in economic well-being, education, health, and community and family, South Carolina ranks 41st in overall child well-being. We need your support to continue to reduce child maltreatment, eliminate toxic stress, advance individual and family functioning, encourage school readiness, build parental resiliency, strengthen families’ support networks, and enable parents to construct protective buffers around their children. We depend on our community to help us continue our programs aimed at eliminating child abuse BEFORE it begins.  Services such as home visitation for at-risk families, parent education classes, parent support groups, anger management classes, victim services and community education are all vital to improving the welfare of our area’s smallest citizens.

Sara Trinkl

My name is Sara Trinkl, and I have been the Community Engagement Director at The Parenting Place for almost two years. Prior to that, I served on the board of directors for this agency. I left my job as an Assistant Store Manager in retail to join this nonprofit because I believe deeply in the cause and wanted to fill my time doing better for our children.
