2019 USRowing Indoor National Championships,

About the event

The first USRowing Indoor National Championships will take place February 24, 2019, at the Walter Pyramid on the campus of Long Beach State University in Long Beach, Calif.

Held in partnership with the World Rowing Federation (FISA), Long Beach Rowing Association and Concept2, the inaugural event will combine with the World Rowing Indoor Championships and Long Beach Sprints.

This combined event will feature opportunities to race for national championship medals in 160 events, as well as World Rowing indoor championship medals in 68 categories and Beach Sprints medals in 36 categories.

National championship racing will be contested in the open, under 15, under 17, under 19, and under 23 categories, as well as masters categories starting with the A age classification. In addition, para rowing/adaptive opportunities are being offered in 98 different categories.

Para athletes racing in the six events (PR1, PR2 and PR3) designated as World Rowing Indoor Championship events will require FISA Classification. Classification requirements can be found in the entry packet. All other para events are self-classified and do not require classification.

USRowing will present national championship medals (gold, silver, and bronze) to the top three U.S. finishers in the 196 USRowing Indoor National Championship races and will award national championship medals to the top three finishers in the under 15 and under 17 categories, which will be determined by age from entrants in the under 19 event.

Additionally, coaches from USRowing’s men’s and women’s U19 national teams will be in attendance, as they are using this inaugural event as part of the identification for U19 talent. Special invitations will be given to U17 athletes to be a part of the newly adopted USOC U17 Olympic Development Program (ODP) camps this summer hosted in the six USRowing regions and culminating in the U17 ODP Summer Cup to be held Sarasota, FL the week of July 7. In support of this, the top U17 (2003) finisher in both the U19 men’s and women’s events will earn an automatic invitation to their regional ODP Camp this summer, as well as have their downpayment waived (a value of $1,000).
