About the event
Nikeeni (translated as giving) initiative in collaboration with the Office of the Ga Mantse and the Ga Traditional Council are organizing the maiden edition of a women empowerment, tourism and culture enhancement project dubbed Awula Ga Dangbe beauty pageant for 2023 traditional festival (Homowo). Tentatively fixed for April, 2023 to August, 2023. (With the launch happening in February,2023).
Over the past century, women all over the world have strived and worked extremely hard in all aspects of life to contribute to the development of our world. Their impact can be felt all around and it’s phenomenal. Still, the topic of the importance and role of women in development is still being debated.
Looking at the likes of Joyce Bamford-Addo, Rebecca Akuffo-Addo just to mention a few, women are indeed inducing positive change in their societies and countries, as well as globally.
As a socially responsible brand, we would like to stand with all these wonderful women out there enacting change by creating an initiative to empower young women, to promote culture and tourism and to create a platform for these young women to contribute their quota to the development of their societies, be a positive role model to other young people and to develop the skills to become the leaders that we will need in future.
We believe in women empowerment and confidently encourage you to do so too because of the benefits and productivity women empowerment has brought to society. Therefore, we hereby ask you to partner with us to create a platform where women can take up space and leadership positions in our communities, country and to aim higher, worldwide!

initiative (Organizers of Awula Ga-Dangme beauty pageant)
I am a 24-year-old who has been working very hard to give back to society in whatever way I can.
I completed university of Ghana in 2020 and attained a 2nd class upper in Human nutrition and
food science with biochemistry. I am in a partnership with the office of the Ga Mantse to shine
light on my country through tourism, hospitality, culture and beauty pageants (I love my country
and I would like to be an ambassador or a minister of state of my country one day). I also run an
online clothes shop called GlowWith Lisa (GWL). I volunteered with the Miss Ghana foundation
and started my own foundation as well, known as the Nikeenii- an Annlisa initiative (which means
gift or the act of giving in my local language Ga), which will the umbrella for organizing the Awula
Ga-Dangme event. Under the foundation we advocate for STEM, Nutrition and health and
sanitation. I am looking forward to having our maiden queen represent Ghana internationally and
hopefully give us our first international beauty pageant crown.
I grew up watching my mother handle any and everything life threw in her way; she went through
a lot that kept her up at night but she still woke up every morning and did a great job raising me.
That was very influential in my development as a child and a teenager, it developed my sense of
determination, courage, endurance, selflessness, humility, integrity, empathy and most importantly
my ability to see positivity in every situation. Which is why I am very confident that with your
assistance we can, and we will make this project very big and create a generation of strong and
courageous women with a great sense of self-worth and value.
The greatest lesson I ever learnt from my family was to be a selfless giver, my grandmother once
told me that when we give to those who really need it, their prayers of thanksgiving and their cries
of gratitude and relief to Jehovah is a blessing to us. And hence with this saying, I know our effort
to give back to society after the pageant will be worthwhile and a great steppingstone to achieving all the good things in life.
I intend to be remembered as a positive impact and as cliché as it may sound, I would like to leave
my footprints in the sands of time (not because I want to be celebrated but because I want people
to believe that there is still humanity, and we are all not evil). And I am grateful that every step I
take is towards achieving that goal. I have been nominated twice in the year 2021 to receive the
award for humanitarian of the year award. If you meet me, you will know you have met a rare find.
I live in Accra, the capital of my country Ghana in a town called Labone.
