About the event
The #50FORLIFE Mental Health, Depression Awareness, and Suicide Prevention Race Project is a year-long cross country marathon tour across the United States where I am pledging to run 50 races and share my story about how running helped save my life after a severe bout of depression and attempted suicide.
The goal of the project is to reach as many as many people across the country, and help break the stigmas that comes with discussion mental health issues in America. I hope to not only help those who are struggling to find help, but also to encourage those who have had past struggles with depression to also share their own stories.
Why should you sponsor?
Per the CDC, Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in adults in America. However, tragically it’s reportedly the second leading cause of death in teens from ages 10-22, meaning more teens are dying from Suicide in our country than cancer. This epidemic isn’t receiving the media attention that it needs to, and I’m just trying to do my part to share my story to as many who will listen to hopefully prevent future suicides.
Nathan WellsMy name is Nathan Wells, and I am a 26-year-old marathoner based out of Knoxville, TN. was working in the medical field (primarily Level 1 Trauma) but in December I began to dedicate my work to focusing on mental health advocacy.
2020 will be my second year doing the #50FORLIFE Initiative, and I’m thrilled say I’m taking it to a whole new level.
