We will be presenting two concerts titled Voices of the St Petersburg in March 2020 at Melbourne Town Hall and Sydney Town Hall.
It is a gala concert programme of Russian opera arias and scenes with a full Australian (Melbourne based) symphony orchestra and soloists of the World-class  Theatre in St Petersburg. It would be presented in collaboration of Capricorn Promotions and More Than Opera, directed by Maestro Alan Cook.

    Why should you sponsor?

Voices of the St Petersburg concerts will create an opportunity for the Australian public to enjoy the world-class performances of four principal artists of the most prestigious Theatre of St Petersburg. Opera audiences in Australia will have the rare experience of seeing these performers which is usually a privilege had only by those visiting St Petersburg. The concerts will take place in Sydney and Melbourne in March 2020 and provide employment opportunities for over sixty Australian orchestral musicians to perform with world-class soloists under the baton of Russian opera expert, Alan Cook, from Melbourne. This event will also provide an excellent opportunity to enhance cultural relations between Australia and Russia, as well as reinforce the sister city relationship of St Petersburg with Melbourne. The programme will include highlights of the most famous Russian operas of composers such as Rimsky-Korsakov, Tchaikovsky, Mussorgsky, Glinka, and others, providing Australian audiences the opportunity to enjoy music rarely heard in Australia and providing the large Russian community in Australia an opportunity to enjoy the amazing talent and art their country has produced. Venues have been secured, the artists booked, and support has been secured from various sponsors and organisations including the Embassy of the Russian Federation. The extensive business experience of Mr. Marchinovsky and 20 years of industry knowledge accumulated by More Than Opera and Artistic Director, Alan Cook, make this a sound collaboration to assure artistic and financial success of the event. This is an event which will stimulate a great deal of interest in Melbourne and Sydney, and reinforce Australia's reputation as a hub of the greatest international events.

Capricorn Promotions is a new organisation set up by prominent Melbourne businessman, Alex Marchinovsky, to promote musical events in support of various charities. More Than Opera is a Melbourne-based arts organisation committed to performing opera in a broad range of settings in the community. Founded in 2000, by Dr David Kram, More Than Opera has a rich history of taking opera to diverse audiences, to those who know and love opera, and to those who are hearing it for the first time.
We love opera for its own sake: opera sits at the pinnacle of the performing arts combining music, text, theatre and dance with the power of the human voice to entice, entertain and transport us with timeless stories about life and love.
We support the development of opera singers and mentor emerging artists (singers, composers, conductors, directors) in their professional journey by engaging them to work with us on opera projects.
We engage professional artists to conduct masterclasses and share their technical knowledge, experience and insights about working as professional musicians.
Since 2003, More Than Opera has partnered with Das Hessische Staatstheater in Wiesbaden to administer the German Australian Opera Award. Each year, 4 finalists compete for the opportunity of working professionally at the Wiesbaden State Opera. We’re proud to have helped many artists who are now working as professional musicians in Australia & overseas.
    But More Than That
We believe opera has a proven benefit for health and well-being for everyone in the community. We’ve tailored specific opera-health projects to produce shows like Scattered for the Malmsbury Youth Justice Centre where a team of singers and musicians wrote and produced their own show and we’ve tailored specific opera-education projects to make opera more accessible to school children such a 'RingWagnerAnimated' & 'Meraviglia'.
In 2017 MTO farewelled Dr Kram with the successful world premiere of his work Peace - A Cantata for John Monash to celebrate the
Alan Cook is a conductor of international experience and currently working on a PhD in Russian opera at the Melbourne Conservatorium and is facilitating a number of collaborations in 2020 including the Voices of St Petersburg gala concerts and regional opera productions with Opera Van Diemensland.
Innovation, creativity, accessibility & artistry is what More Than Opera is all about.
