UGA India Night,

Athens, Georgia, United States Athens, Georgia, United States

  • About the event

UGA India Night is a national intercollegiate Bollywood Fusion dance competition held at the Classic Center in downtown Athens on February 4th, 2017. Last year, the diverse show sold out with attendance exceeding 2000 and we expect to reach an even larger audience this year with increased marketing on UGA’s campus and on social media. Year after year, UGA India Night brings in both attendance and participation from many in-state schools such as, the University of Georgia, Georgia Tech, Emory University, Georgia State University and Mercer University, as well as several out-of-state universities. UGA India Night will continue showcase and promote talents from all over the Southeast.

This show, however, cannot take place without the support of our community. With the help of your generous contributions, we hope to make UGA India Night 2017 a memorable night for everyone. Please join us in spreading our classic southern hospitality while creating a diverse and exciting learning environment at the University of Georgia.

    Why should you sponsor?

Our event is an opportunity for publicity at the local and national level. With over 2000 people at the event and many more watching through the live feed on youtube,  our sponsors' names become popular in the city of Athens and beyond. We offer different outlets of advertisements that are highlighted in the packages. We believe in satisfying our sponsors. We meet with the sponsors before and after the event.  As an organization, we want to create partnerships with all our sponsors where both parties benefit.

    Thank you for your consideration!

The Indian Cultural Exchange (ICE) is a non-profit student-led organization which strives to raise awareness about the culture of India, as well as serve local Athens communities. ICE has been one of the largest minority organizations on campus, and India Night has become one of the largest attractions at UGA as well as in Georgia. India Night was recognized by the university as having the “Most Outstanding Cultural Awareness Event” for 2003. ICE is a distinguished organization moving in a direction that its founders laid out over a decade ago by exchanging the culture with our Athens community.

The Indian Cultural Exchange works to bring the Indian community as well as the rest of the UGA community together through various cultural, social, political, and community service events. Such events include Gandhi week of service, blanket donations to the homeless, food donations to Athens non-profit organizations, volunteering at food banks and pet shelters, hosting Chai & Chaat discussions on prevalent social justice issues, collaborations with other UGA student-run, philanthropic organizations. For example, we incorporate an Indian cultural aspect when we co-host UGA Garba with Asha for Education, a non-profit raising funds to provide resources for school children in underprivileged communities.

The overall objective of the Indian Cultural Exchange is to encourage our general body to be agents of change within the community. By incorporating all of the elements that form the foundation of our organization, we have worked to establish a unique approach to spreading awareness and advocating for an informed and driven student body.
