Law and Society Chats (LASOC) is UBC’s academic club that hopes to bring together students from a variety of disciplines to inspire academic discussions about the role of law in society and in our everyday lives. In addition to allowing students to gain exposure to a legal environment while furthering their skill set, LASOC aims to raise awareness about the Law and Society Minor. Events include prof talks, where the club hosts discussions with a professor in the Law and Society program and other like-minded peers in a social setting, and organized trips to open academic lectures like to the Centre for Feminist Legal Studies Lecture Series.
