    The Event

    The event we are organizing is the Travel Earth Digital Influencer Convention (pls see http://bit.ly/earthys). This Convention will be held on June 27-28. It is a 2-day event with multiple sessions around the intersection of technology and content and will culminate in a first of its kind merit-based awards programme (detailed below) for digital content creators in the travel industry. Apart from Travel Earth, this event will be co-hosted by Sabah Tourism Board (STB), Malaysian Tourism Promotion Board (MTPB), and Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) in the city of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia. We are expecting to host between 150-200 participants, the majority of whom will be leading digital influencers (content creators/ bloggers/ vloggers etc. with a cumulative reach of millions) from both India and Malaysia. Apart from digital influencers, other participants would include travel industry leaders, tourism board officials and technology companies.

    For your kind reference and establishing a perspective, I am listing down the top 5 bloggers who have already registered and extremely keen to be the part of this event. They have a followership nearing to/ above 2 lacs These are the names from a list of approximately 200 bloggers who have registered and will undergo a thorough screening process. Only 80 to 100 will finally qualify to attend the event.

    Millennials and travel fashion

    Millennials love to travel and this has become possible because of the rise in the low-cost airline business and alternate accommodations such as Airbnb. Millennials take 7.7 trips per year according to MMGY and with the young generation on the move, new apparels need to emerge. Millennials experience and express, and Travel-Fashion industry is helping them to do this. Millennials shop more travel accessories and clothes to express on social media. Millennials spend an estimated US$229 billion on shopping overseas, leaving the rest of the world way behind. Their top purchases? Fashion and accessories! Just an example, the sales of sunglasses have increased from 10K to 30K from January 2016 till June 2018. Travel luggage, shoes and accessories have been noticed to have similar hikes in the sales in 2018. Millennials are bridging the gap between Travel and Fashion making Travel Fashion as a growing industry.

     

    The Earthy Awards

    The Earthy Awards is based on the idea of honouring the finest and the most effective digital influencers in the travel industry. Winning an Earthy will mean being acknowledged as a true traveller who goes beyond the tried and tested. There are ~30 categories across which awards may be won (e.g., travel influencer of the year, best travel writer, best travel blogger of the year etc.). We want the Earthy Awards to be established as the gold standard for influencer awards in this industry. We are now in the process of appointing an independent jury consisting of leading digital marketers, media industry leaders and film and photography experts to help us achieve this objective.

    Jury

    The people that till date we have finalised for the jury are - Partha Sinha, Jessie Paul (Paulwriter), Ramesh Srivats and Bobby Joshi. The jury will be judging the bloggers based on 70% Google Analytics and 30% Creatives. 

    Why should you sponsor?

    1. With the top bloggers having a followership of more than one lac per blogger will mention about the companies who will sponsor in the event, the companies will automatically get presence and impression in a wide population which usually involves huge Marketing costs.

    2. Companies are investing in setting up Influencers group within the company to market their products as the entire world is moving towards digital marketing. Sponsoring this event will give them the presence and results with a much wider population without any significant costs.

    3. This will let them save upto 10 million USD marketing costs per company given that their product will be seen by more than 20 million audience.

    4. The awards that shall be given will have their brand on it allowing them showcase their comany on a stage where there is intersection of technology and top end audience

    5. The sponsor’s social media handle will be tagged for several posts/stories on various platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Number of mentions or social media interactions is subject to relevancy.

    6. The event will have standees, LED screen backdrops and banners at the venue. Travel Earth also has a microsite for all event details. All these will mention our sponsor

    7. Sponsor mentions on event related press releases

    8. Travel Earth can provide slots during the event for sponsors to present directly to the audience. Select sponsor representatives might be invited to be a part of a panel discussion

    9. Travel.earth will be arranging for media kits and giveaways which will include a few items for the participants to take away with them. The sponsor logo or name can be included in some of the contents depending as applicable
