About the event

Thrift is an interactive fashion conference hosted by Project Play’s Youth Council, a registered non-profit organization led by youth across the GTA where we thrive on hosting ‘for youth, by youth’ events. However none can be made possible without your assistance.

Project Play is a catalyst for change in the creative world, committed to affecting action of media content, raising publicity to creators, and encouraging interaction within our community. With Thrift, we hope to achieve these goals by providing youth with an opportunity to experience the lifestyle of today’s fashion industry and gain exposure for their artistic hobbies.

This year, the fashion conference will feature the theme of Ecological Sustainability. Youth models and fashion designers will be invited to the one-day event to challenge their artistic talents while raising awareness that we must be mindful in the overwhelming production of new clothing while old clothing is being tossed away and wasted. At Thrift, thrifted clothes will be put together by student designers and modelled by student models according to three runway themes. We will also be featuring student photography as a backdrop for the runways. It will be a full day event with work sessions during the day and a final showcase with audience during the evening.

There are several ways you can help with this movement: sponsoring the event with a monetary donation to be recognized as an official event sponsor and/or offering products or services to be recognized as an official event in-kind sponsor.

I am a current high school senior who is passionate about leading Project Play's youth council. We are in charge of creating innovative initatives in our community that raise awareness on global social issues while integrating the arts. The dedication and commitment shown by the youth behind Project Play is remarkable and will not cease to impress our sponsors.
