About the event
I am a firm believer that life is intended to be joyful. Extremely joyful! Yet, so many people are suffering?
Depression/Mental Illness is an epidemic and suicide rates are sky rocketing. I know firsthand the agonizing reality of the toll that mental illness takes on a family.
On September 25, 2015 my family lost our patriarch to suicide. In a flash, I lost my Dad and life, as I knew it.
My simple and free-spirited life was taken over by funeral arrangements, wills, legal dramas, foreclosures, family squabbles, unanswered questions and profound grief.
I was lost.
I decided one especially dark night to reach out to a suicide crisis hotline. I was not personally contemplating but I was desperate to hear someone say I wasn’t alone. I got an extremely compassionate woman on the line that had lost her son to suicide 13 years prior. She remembered all too well the feelings: sadness, anger, guilt… She got me through the night.
I learned that there are a countless number of extraordinary volunteers just like her and deemed them “good spirits”.
When the light returned, I set the personal intention to rise up and turn my family’s tragedy into something powerful and healing – not just for me, but everyone.
The Good Spirits Tour was born.
Nine months crossing the country to express gratitude, kindness and shine a light on goodness - by distributing over 100,000 thank you cards with a link for a virtual swag bag, full of goodies, music and special offers.
The primary mission of the tour is to seek, serve and celebrate “good spirits” across the country. We are planning events, gifts, outings, spa days, entertainment and awards for volunteers, veterans, teachers, philanthropists, firefighters, counselors, neighbors, community leaders… everyday do-gooders that give of themselves for the betterment of others.
The very people that work tirelessly to support those suffering deserve our support as well.
In addition to our pre-planned “good spirit” events, we will also be conducting random acts of kindness - all year long - in small communities and cities alike.
“We rise by lifting others” – Robert Ingersoll
I am elated to be sharing music during the tour, as well. We will be collecting pieces of original music from independent artists all over the country. All of the songs will be available for FREEdownload – for all of our “good spirits”!
Several artists will also be doing live performances throughout the tour, as well...
Oh, I just love this!!
I cannot (nor want to) do this alone. The more of us that head out with the intent to lift others, the faster we can begin eradicating the negativity.
Please consider becoming a sponsor, making a contribution, sharing with your network, joining us for acts of kindness and/or sharing a story of a “good spirit” you know.
The good in our world deserves it’s time in the spotlight!
Let’s shower social media with stories of extraordinary people and bury the anger and hate. Let's remind other's that they are not alone and that their lives truly do matter. You matter.
It is time to let the healing begin. Launching January 31, 2017 (which would have been my Dad's 71st birthday).
Why should you sponsor?
1) Visibility - Your logo/product placement/website distributed nationwide over nine months. Utilize social media, traditional media, gift bags, uniforms and one-on-one marketing. We are going to celebrate amazing people and would love to promote your business along the way!
2) Target Audience - We are focusing on individuals and organizations that are heavily involved in their communities and making a positive difference. The tour will stop everywhere from small towns to metropolitan areas - individuals, organizations, businesses and event planners. Over 100,000 virtual gift bags will also be distributed nationwide.
3) Press - We will utilize newspaper, radio, media, social media and web presence - locally and nationally. We would love to include your company logo and include your message in press releases.
4) Karma - Support real people, celebrating good people.

when she lost her father to suicide last fall. “Through the open hearts of area organizations, I was allowed a safe place to be vulnerable and work on healing from my tragedy. It was then I fully grasped that even in our most powerless moments, we can still be powerful for others”, said Farrens. “I remain astounded by how many people and organizations were at my fingertips to offer guidance, yet I couldn’t help but wonder – who was supporting them?” The Good Spirits Tour has been designed to honor amazing people but to also to assure those that are currently suffering that they matter and help does exist.
