The Enormous Elephant Run: Freestyle,

Los Angeles, California, United States Los Angeles, California, United States

  • About the event

The Enormous Elephant Run: Freestyle is a 5K Run/Walk/Jog in Los Angeles' picturesque Griffith Park. On Saturday, March 10, 2018, people from all walks of life, who want to make a difference for Africa's elephants, will join together to run or walk in support of the work of the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.

At the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (DSWT), we work to protect Kenya’s wildlife and wild habitats, including elephants and the land where they roam. At the heart of the DSWT’s work is their successful Orphans’ Project with over 200 elephants raised through the nursery, with the end goal for each elephant a return to a wild life. The DSWT’s work encompasses a much broader vision too – one that ensures the sustainable protection of wildlife, habitats and communities for future generations. We can’t bear a future without this iconic species and we’re determined to keep doing all we can to protect wild herds, treat injured elephants and care for orphaned calves. You are helping us protect Africa's elephants by becoming a part of the herd!

    Why should you sponsor?

The Enormous Elephant Run is a unique event that brings together wildlife supporters in a novel way to raise essential funds for our life-saving conservation work to protect Africa's elephants. Our Run differs from traditional fundraising events by being a visual and social event where runners can dress as elephants to raise vital funds for the species if they choose to.

The Enormous Elephant Run is continuing to grow, expanding into the U.S. in 2016! In the UK, the Run has seen more than 1,000 runners, walkers and joggers registering to run, jog or walk dressed as an elephant raising more than £192,000 for the protection of Africa's elephants. In the USA, under the former name of Saving the Elephants Run, over $120,000 has been raised and we hope to have 1,500 runners lining up at our start line this year for The Enormous Elephant Run: Freestyle.

Our Run is extremely visual and social: Our participants want to share with the world what they are doing, be it posting to blogs, taking selfies along the way or sharing our content.

We are looking for strong partners to be associated with The Enormous Elephant Run and for those brands to be attached to the continuing success and development of this project. Local sponsorship is available for locations as well as title sponsorship opportunities. Brand placement can include branding placement on key areas of the website, branding placement in communications, branding on marketing material and some products, which may include logo on race numbers.

    Heather Carr

My name is Heather Carr, and I am the Fundraising and Events Coordinator at The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust USA. I have many years of special events and fundraising experience working at different nonprofits. The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust USA is, by far, the most amazing organization I have ever had the honor of working at. They truly believe in their mission and vision, and keep the overhead and fundraising costs low, so that 90% of what we bring in goes directly back to help save elephants and rhinos in Kenya.
