About the event

What is TEDx ?

TEDx is an international community that organizes TED-style events anywhere and everywhere -- celebrating locally-driven ideas and elevating them to a global stage. TEDx events are produced independently of TED conferences, each event curates speakers on their own, but based on TED's format and rules.

India is facing several problems just like any other nation. Some of them are the legacies of our eventful past while others are emerging due to fusion of traditional Indian culture with modern way of life. This is further compounded by the fact that though India is a single country, the diversity across its land is phenomenal in terms of race, religion, caste and language. While this diversity poses a huge challenge to the governing institutions, it also enables different groups of people spread across the length and breadth of the country to seek and implement their own solutions without waiting for the government’s efforts to commence. 
Our event seeks to invite such initiators to share their real life success stories with a wide audience. Like everyone else, they were faced with a multitude of challenges. However, instead of allowing those challenges to stall them forever, they exhibited extraordinary resilience and moved on to create better opportunities not only for themselves but also for others. Such stories will inspire the listeners to successfully deal with their own challenges by displaying strong resilience and ultimately emerge victorious in their life. 
Another perspective is taking "undo" not in the individualistic sense, but as a means to undo what is happening in the world around us by actions, focusing not just on the formulation of innovative ideas, but on the successful implementation of the ideas as well. Whatever the human kind has done till now has brought this planet to impending war among nations and widespread poverty which kills millions around the world every year. We wish to see how in our own small way, we can help in spreading these successful ideas across the country and put India into the comity of developed nations.

Shubham Bhalla (Co-organizer, TedxLBSIM 2016

I'm an aspiring finance professional. I have deep interest in the journey and milestones which mankind has covered since early civilizations. Hence, I’m passionate about exploring science and history which explain various aspects in our lives. Understanding these concepts has enhanced my thought process and curiosity to learn even further. I’m also passionate about basketball as it helps me stay focused so I can comprehend and implement the ideas I gather. Sports are a big part of my life and I realize the importance of sports in physical as well as mental benefits for people. As mentioned above, my interest in the areas of science and history has enabled me to think from different perspectives. Reading about the various breakthroughs and developments in the journey of mankind has helped in shaping my thought process.

At LBSIM, I am the Coordinator of the Alumni Foundation which provides a platform where our alumni could connect with each other and their alma mater. I and my team have taken many successful initiatives being part of the Foundation. I have worked with a Multinational Business Consulting and IT Firm in Business Development across Retail, Consumer Goods and the Manufacturing vertical. I was a volunteer in the XIX Commonwealth Games held in Delhi in 2010. Being part of an international event gave me the opportunity of representing my county and I also learned the importance of teamwork.
