About the event

Enjoy fall at Stratford Hall! This popular event features wines from Virginia wineries and oysters from Chesapeake Bay and Tidewater oyster growers. Savor the varied tastes of oysters and a wide variety of seafood options. In addition to the wineries and oyster growers, the festival will offer distinctive arts and crafts, local and international foods, craft distilleries, live music, a car show, barrel train rides, miniature farm animals and historical living-history personages. Enjoy FREE admission to the Great House plus tour the gristmill in operation, and much more!

Tidewater Oyster Gardeners will be coordinating educational activities and demonstrations to include shucking demonstrations, cooking classes, environmental organizations, and the latest film produced by Emmy award winning documentarian David Miller.

Parking is free and transportation will be provided from the parking lots by Bay Transit and Trolley. The event will be held rain or shine!

Stratford Hall, home to four generations of the Lees of Virginia, is a historic site that has been welcoming visitors since 1935. Our site consists of 17 historic structures - including the 1738 Great House – set on over 1,900 acres on the Potomac River. Guided tours are offered, along with a wide array of educational programs. There is ongoing work to preserve Stratford’s historic resources (structures, objects, papers) and to further scholarship about the Lees of Virginia. 

Stratford Hall hold over 30 events every year with our signature event being the Wine and Oyster Festival. This is the 11th year of the Wine and Oyster Festival and it continues to grow in popularity. With the increase in attendance we are now looking for outside sponsors to help us produce an amazing festival experience!
