360 Degrees of Addiction Treatment: Innovate, Integrate, Motivate

The Rutgers Center of Alcohol Studies has provided continuing education to thousands of professionals in a broad range of addiction and behavioral health fields. Our mission is to provide education that meets emerging addiction health challenges. This year, we celebrate the 75th Anniversary of our Summer School of Addiction Studies, the oldest addiction education program in the United States.

    Program Profile:

The 75th anniversary of the Summer School of Addiction Studies kicks off with Focus Day 17, a day-long event featuring multiple acclaimed keynote speakers and networking opportunities. Summer School continues with a 3-day intensive educational program that includes courses, lectures, networking events, as well as breakfast, lunch and a Monday night picnic dinner.

    Member Profile:

Focus Day is expected to draw between 150-200 attendees. Attendees come from a wide range of professional backgrounds, including alcohol and drug counseling, professional counseling, psychology, social work, criminal justice, law enforcement and the military. Of the Focus Day attendees, 100 – 120 will continue on for the 3-day school event that follows.

    Why should you sponsor?

Focus Day 17 will be held in the Life Science Atrium on Rutgers University Busch Campus on Sunday, July 16, 2017. The Atrium is an open space in which vendors and exhibitors will enjoy all-day access to program attendees. The schedule includes time for attendees to browse exhibits and ask questions. Registration opens at 8am, programming starts at 9am, and the day ends between 5-6pm. Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided for your convenience.

The Center of Alcohol Studies (CAS) is a multidisciplinary institute dedicated to addiction research, education, and training.

Our NIH-supported research programs seek to understand how the body and brain communicate to impact alcohol and other drug use behavior, how legalization of marijuana impacts simultaneous alcohol and marijuana, and how the effectiveness of current youth alcohol interventions can be compared more efficiently and precisely.

Our addiction education program offers weekly professional development seminars, specialty opioid intervention trainings for law enforcement and prevention interventions for medical professionals, and a 3-day summer program that immerses participants in the latest strategies and theories for treating addiction.
