We have all seen and experienced the effects of COVID-19 pandemic. Everybody went through hardships. Those with full-time employment somehow managed to sail through, but artists and independent small businesses suffered the most.

Of these, full-time artists and musicians have suffered the worst during the pandemic, especially those with disabilities as there was absolutely no work coming and hence no earning.

Artists are covered by govt aid, atleast on paper, only for those whose income is less than 40,000 per annum, which is not at all practical in these days of high inflation. Only source of income for them is through their performances and recordings. Post Covid, situation is not conducive for them to resume their activities normally. Many are going through difficult health issues. With them being sole bread earner, it’s a huge risk for the entire family with no facilities from the govt.

As a step forward, Maadhurya Foundation was registered on 14th Mar 2022 as a public charitable trust, whose main purpose is to further interests of economically needy full time musicians and other artists and allied technicians by providing them necessary assistance and backing to support themselves and their families depending on them, to give impetus to deserving young talent in the field of music.
