Press Pause To Begin

In our dynamic world, with rapid advancement in technology and constant evolvement in socio-economic landscape, people endeavour to catch up with this rapid its pace. However, we will often be frustrated, lost or caught in our constraints.

This year, TEDxUniversityofGlasgow decides to adopt a new, groundbreaking theme: “Press Pause to Begin” for our 2018 conference. We hope we can share innovative and pioneering thoughts not only with students from the University of Glasgow, but also with the local and global communities. Having this as our theme this year, we would like to stress on the equal importance of both “to pause” and “to begin”. In the world that emphasizes the vitality of advancement, we hope everyone can learn to “pause”, approaching things from new perspectives, or even teasing out seemingly obsolete elements for innovation. “Pause” does not necessarily mean stop, it means to give yourself time for re ection and appreciation on things you missed. From which, you reconsider bottlenecks as ideas, reset existing mindsets from new perceptions and reconstruct a new self from your new experience.

As a Chinese proverb says, “to rest is to walk further”;
Pause is the Beginning, the beginning of a new journey that lies ahead.
