About the event
Maychild Media partnered with Big Brothers Big Sisters for their 40thyear anniversary and is pleased to bring back an old past time city wide event that hasn’t been seen for 46 years! The soapbox car derby first ran in 1950 and ended in 1973. We present 2019 Prince George Soapbox Car Derby, on August 3, 2019. This is a community friendly event which will have people building their derby car to race down Victoria St. This event will feature vendors, booths, over 500 spectators and up to 100 participants. Profits from this event will go toward our proactive mentoring programs that serve the children and youth of Prince George.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Prince George is a local non-profit organization dedicated to helping children and youth in Prince George. We believe every child should have the opportunity to reach his or her full potential, both as individuals and citizens – that by doing so, they will not only do well, they will also do good. Maychild Media enjoys promoting community spirit and moral through creating and coordinating events for all ages.
Without the support of sponsors, this event will be unable to proceed with plans and help kids make memories as well as boost the community moral.

I started Maychild Media in a way to promote the citizens and artist of Prince George, as well as host events for children, to promote a healthy childhood and install confidence in future generations.
I'm a single mom of 6 kids, and wanted them to experience racing a derby car on city streets, and figured I'd host it for many other poeple as well. I am on a very tight budget and need outside help!
I hope this can become an annual event! I love to see kids smile and having a good time!
