  • About the event

Penshurst Village Fete is a family fun focused event organised by the community for the community.

The fete is co-ordinated by a team of committee members. The committee is formed of local Penshurst residents volunteers who wish to engage both with Penshurst and surrounding villages, to put on a community focused event that is both entertaining, informative and educational.  We also  raise money from the proceeds for  local charities and causes. It enables us to try to bring together all parts of the community who sometimes with daily life may not get the chance to come together and engage. It's about fostering community spirit, feel good factor and celebrating together.

The Penshurst Village Fete this year is to be held on Sunday June 11th 2017 from 12pm - 4pm,  Church Field, in the grounds of the beautiful Penshust Place, which have kindly been made available for the use of the community by Lord De L'Isle, to host this event. to be clear this is a community event and though we have been permitted use of the grounds, it is our repsonsibility to organise, fund, host, and our  very much event.

For 2017 our theme is to celebrate Our National Armed Forces in the build up to the official Armed Forces Day (24th June) and as our way of joining the National celebrations taking place throughout the UK.  An exciting program of activities and entertainment is planned with details available via our website and social media pages.

Events planned include: Dog Show and dog classes, Birds Of Prey,  Fantastic Musical & Dramatic entertainment, hopefully some Military Displays (tbc), Bouncy Castle,  Afternoon Teas, BBQ & Hog Roast,  Beer Tent, PIMM's Stall, a range of fun children activities throughout the day, raffle prizes and highly interesting and individual trade stalls.  (please see the website for the  full line-up). Tug of War, Childrens Fancy Dress (military theme) and so much more being confimred currently, but very exciting!

Come, Join Us! Get on board and support a family orientated event set in a fantastic setting celebrating each other, encouraging unity, solidarity, finding joy in each others companionship and reaching out to all sectors of the community whilst also giving due focus and to a very significant matter of national interest.

    Why should you sponsor?

Penshurst; an historic village linked with other local historic villages, receiving a very large number of visitors throughout the year, national and international, all enjoying the beautiful surroundings.

The Penshurst Village Fete this year is to be held on Sunday June 11th 2017 from 12pm - 4pm, The setting is fabulous, a filiming location for many historical movies and television programs such as Wolf Hall, The Other Boleyn Girl, Pen and has been used as a filming location for a number of blockbuster film and hit TV productions.

The historic backdrop, largely unchanged for 670 years combines with the warmth of a much-loved family home, with amazing grounds and a stunning view.   Essentially, it's a beautiful place to spend a fun filled day, with lot's of activity, events and facilites combined with the spectacular backdrop, it really does feel rather special!

Our last fete had an attendance figure of approximately 2,500+  attendees.  Plus the concessions (taking the figure nearer to 3,000) and this year we hope for  much more, so it's a fantastic platform for public community engagement, with many families present.

In addition to residents form the community and it's surrounding villages, we had in attendance a local mayor, a dame who is also a double olympic champion awarding our prizes, local politicians,a speech to close the fete read on behalf of a  Knight Commander of The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (due to travel hold-ups), and many persons of note in the community.

The  sponsorship we  get enables us to offer greater facilities and we can provide or subsidise acitivities and entertainment.  For example, at our last fete we paid in advance so the archery was free to the public for the entire day to try as many times as they wished, in addition to some of the interactive classes and entertainment and the childrens crafts and activity tent. We were also fortunate enough to be successful in securing free books for all of the children attending regarding The Magna Carta as that was our theme at the time.

We have hopes for offering further facilites, and entertainment, we are a totally self-funded event and appreciate sponsorship from companies and brands who share our goals and values,  support community and family values. We are proud of our community,  of our country and those who keep us safe within.  We encourage association  and support from like-minded sponsors.

We are flexible in approach and happy to discuss in detail potential ways of working together to the benefit of our community.

We are a Committee formed from members of the community, individual business members, business owners, community members, we hold meeting once per month and have a Chairman, treasurer and delegate duties to ensure that tasks are carried out successfully whilst still working together collaboartively.

We are also joined at our meeting by some of our participants such as The Dog Show team which is actually a dog rescue centre as they are an intergral part of our event and thoughts, suggestions and opinions are always welcomed in order to provide the best event possible for all involved.

We work closely with sponsors, for example our last  headline sponsor took the lead on artwork for our flyers to incorporate their establishment, and we continued the theme through out our own. We are flexible, in approach and share an ultimate goal. To deliver success and atisfaction for every attendee and everyone involved in the process.

Feel good factor is important to us.
