  • About the event

    Orientation Week (O-Week) is the biggest week on the university calendar, and is designed to help students make the best possible start of their postgraduate student life at the Australian National University.
     
    O-Week provides a chance for new students to meet new and continuing grad students, familiarise themselves with the campus, discover the full range of support services available, program and course advice, participate in extracurricular activities and interact with local businesses.
     

    • Week long program attracts over 3,000 postgraduate students aged 22 – 55.
    • Located at the heart of the Student Hub, Kambri and at locations across the campus and Canberra City Centre.
    • Themed week, covers social, educational and familyfriendly events and activities. (July O-Week Theme: Flash, Flicker, Ignite)

    PARSA runs many major events during O-Week that capture the attention of various student cohorts including niche markets such as international students and student parents. 
     
    The PARSA O-Week features live music and entertainment, free food, interactive activities, family-focused events, a voice for advocacy, cultural programs, trips and heaps of freebies.
     
    It is also the first occasion for a large cohort of our international students to experience campus life and the support services and facilities available to them.

    It’s the perfect opportunity for directly targeting and connecting with new students while they are still establishing brand loyalty.

    Major PARSA O-Week Events are:

    • Postgraduate Student Welcome Evening: A sophisticated night of food, drinks and live music entertainment - An evening for new students to mingle and experience the finest of Canberra's offering. Close to 500 attendees last year (sold out). A welcome speech by the Vice-Chancellor and key VIPs from the Australian National University. Our jazz band and DJ line-up is a feature of the evening. Provides highly visible and unique branding opportunities.
    • Friday Festival: Fringe Festival brought to ANU for postgrad students to experience - evening of picnic eats, refreshing drinks and entertainment. The festival is a platform for unique artists to showcase their talent to our postgraduate audiences. Local industry food and drink vendors for students to sample and experience. Expected attendance 400. Live music performances, comedy shows, roving performers, magicians and much more. Exclusivity presence and experiential marketing opportunities on the evening including a stall, product sampling  activations, giveaways.
    • PARSA Big Day: A day which brings kids,  families and friends together to experience eclectic art, live music and dance, kids activities, a variety of food and entertainment like no other! Think live music from Canberra's best music artists and band and dance performances flown down from Sydney. Over 15 stalls of free food by various ANU Clubs and Societies, and top food vendors in Canberra and surrounding cities. Tons of kids activities - jumping castle, face painting, pet rock zoo, scavenger hunt, glitter tattoos, circus acts, and more! Held on a Saturday, a week after O-Week at a dedicated family-focused space in the heart of the ANU campus. Over 600 attendees - International and domestic students, student-parents and families from ANU and neighboring suburbs.
