About the event
Professional BMX rider Scotty Cranmer was shooting a film session with his Monster Energy team mates in Las Vegas Nevada on the evening of October 12th 2016, and upon performing a set of bike tricks, caught his front wheel in a hole in the ground that catapulted him on to his face without time to get his hands in front of him. He was wearing pads and a helmet, but the hole was so large that the safety gear could not protect him. Suffering several facial fractures, cerebral hemorrhage and damage to his C4 and C5 vertebrae Road to Recovery jumped into action less than an hour after his accident. Currently we have assisted his Dad and wife with travel to be by his side.
Road to Recovery is working with local doctors and other specialists to insure Scotty gets the best possible care at this time. Multiple surgeries are in his future and the past few hours has resulted in the doctors calling him stable and strong for surgery on his vertebrae. We are wishing Scotty and his family the best and have set up this page on our website to keep people informed.

We have some big sponsors such as Monster Energy, Woodward, and Road2Recovery, which are providing multiple press releases for this event. The opportunity for the Leather Italia brand recognition during the weeks and months up to the event, as well as the day of the event are outstanding! I say this because of the level of riding Scotty Cranmer was able to achieve. It is world renouned in the dicipline of BMX riding. He is tied with Dave Mirra for the most X Games BMX Park medals with 9, 3-Gold, 3-Silver, and 3-Bronze and has had over 14 appearances in X Games Dirt Jumping, and BMX Park. He was also a staple on the Dew Tour since 2005. He is a world champion in the sport of BMX.
This year we have two Events: You can check our website by clicking the link here => http://notyouraveragejamcontest.tk/
August 5th at Greenfield Grind Skate Park located at Greenfield Lake Park
October 28th at Ogden Skate Park located at Ogden Park
Both events will feature beginner, amateur and professional level riding contests, and will host people of all ages. We usually get a great turn out from all over the state, and surrounding states, however because of the traction that Road to Recovery already has, we expect this years jam to be even bigger, with sponsors receiving high visibility from state, local, and national sources These events will go on all day, and into the night giving our sponsors excellent visibility.
We have everything we need for these events with the exception of money to pay out for the pro winners during each event. We are offering $1,000 for the pro winner with second place receiving $500 and Third place receiving $250. With this investment, we will be able to attract pro riders from all over the state, and country to come and participate and put on a great show for the families who have their children participating in the competition all while raising money for someone who has given so much to our sport.
We are asking for $1,750 for each event $3,500 total) for these pro purse payouts from the headline sponsor. When making this contribution, your business could receive the following:

Why should you sponsor?
- Put Your Business in the Spotlight
You gain respect and credibility by standing out from the pack of attendees and prominently displaying your products and marketing materials.
- Lead Generation and New Contacts
People will give up business cards and email addresses in exchange for a chance to win a great prize in a drawing, samples or even candy and other promotional item giveaways.
- Give attendees a “taste” of your business
By sharing a sample or trial offer of your product, you engage attendees and increase your chances of turning them into new customers.
- Market Your Business Inexpensively
We all know how much advertising your business can cost. It can run a thousand dollars or more to place an ad in a well-known local publication for only one time! Spending that same amount as a sponsor or vendor at an event is a much wiser investment that will bring a greater return on investment. Remember, you will be along side hundreds of attendees who are your target market. By leveraging the event to your advantage, there will be no limit on your potential ROI.
My name is Paul Smith, and I live in Wilmington North Carolina. I am an advocate for bicycle moto cross (BMX) for my area. I am a young professional with a Graduate Degree in Management from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
For the past few years, I have hosted action sports fundraisers in downtown Wilmington NC to raise money for the new Ogden Skate Park (I have attached some pictures of past events)! We have officially opened this facility and have seen huge success, with up to 15-20 people using this facility on a daily basis and as many as 50 on Saturdays and Sundays with countless spectators. I am very proud of this accomplishment and what this facility offers to the public.
I am a board member for the New Hanovery County Parks Conservency.
The mission of the New Hanover County Parks Conservancy (“Parks Conservancy”) is to care for and improve New Hanover County’s parks. Through these improvements we enhance more than the county’s beauty, we improve the health, community and economic strength.
We’re advocates too- making sure that people know what is available to them and that their support is vital. Creating Citizen Scientists with our environmental education programs- How will we accomplish our goals? By establishing ways for people to give, get involved, and get into the parks!
This year I wanted to to something more meaningful for the BMX community specifically. I started seeing the developments for Scotty Cranmer shortly after his accident, so when I was approached about doing another fundraiser, Road 2 Recovery, and Stand Up For Scotty were the first things I thought of. He needs major help with medical expenses that pertain to his injuries. These are career ending injuries, and I feel that Scotty needs the resources necessary to get back on his feet. Through this event, I believe that I can provide the necessary funds for this cause while increasing the exposure of our sponsors in a positive environment.
