About the event

WHAT IS MOBILE WEEKEND?

A demanding but fun event that seeks to connect entrepreneurial minds with experts and investors to create successful mobile-first Startups.
During two and a half days, more than 40 entrepreneurs will work and collaborate with their peers, organized in 8 different project teams, some of them based on business ideas proposed by the participants and others based on ideas proposed by the organization.

The 3 winning teams will receive a trophy recognizing their achievements during the Program and exclusive benefits to help in the quest of transforming ideas into realities. Also, the judges will choose the 3 most talented and committed participants, who will be put into the ‘Dream Team’. This team can opt to become part of Capptains Venture Builder and receive full incubation services, office space, MVP development and initial funding.

WHAT IS THE CANDIDATE SELECTION PROCESS AND CRITERIA?

We aim to find and select the brightest minds with studies and work experience in four different areas to create balanced teams: Business Developer, IT Engineer (Coder), Marketing or Design. We conduct selective (universities, specialized schools, Meetup groups, co-workings, incubators, etc.) and massive (newspapers, radio, specialized press) PR and ad campaigns to reach the best available talent.

Then, Capptains’ team, taking into account all available public information that we can gather about each candidate, carefully evaluates all applications. If they make it through this rigorous selection process, we send them follow-up emails asking for additional information in order to match them up with the rest of participants and create the best teams.

Besides being exposed to the participants themselves, successful entrepreneurs, investors and industry professionals, the event will be covered by some of the most relevant media. Mobile Weekend takes place one month before the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, with the media being very interested in covering everything that happens around it. Therefore, we have already received media coverage from main Spanish newspapers such as Expansión, La Vanguardia and national radios, such as COPE. All of them, plus several others including national TVs, have already confirmed their interest in covering the event live.
