About the event

Our pageant is dedicated to honoring profound young women of all shapes, sizes, races and backgrounds. While we love for our girls to dress up and have a blast strutting down our stage, our pageant is not at all about outer beauty. We are looking for three confident young women with beautiful hearts to represent California and proudly wear our crowns. No experience is required to compete in our pageant and there is no height, weight, race, orientation, or look discrimination.  We will have three age divisions and one overall winner for each age group. Girls ages 13-17 will compete for our Teen title and young women ages 18-26 will compete for our Miss title.

Miss California United Scholar Pageant is an opportunity to showcase your company’s products/services and increase market share. But act soon - Sponsorships are now 45% full. Attendee Profile We have built up traction for our February event and have gained the interest of a vast number of sponsors, attendees and competitors. We are expected to have 80 or more contestants, all young women ages 13 to 26. Our venue will hold approximately 500 people and our final show is projected to sell out. Attendees will be of varying age ranges and genders. The pageant will also be Livestreamed across the entire US. However, we still need your support. Your generous contribution will help us extend our Giving Young Women of Excellence Their Moment To Shine platform by helping us fund our beautiful venue, supply meals, crowns, banners, trophies, prizes and the experience of a lifetime to our girls. We want all of our contestants to feel like the queens that they are. 

The Miss California United Scholar Pageant was the brainchild of two young entertainers, Romare Smith and Hanani Taylor. Their passion to encourage and honor young people of excellence drove them to create an inclusive pageant system, looking to become completely nationwide in the next 3 years. This pageant is unlike many others as it is more about the girl inside than outer appearance. We celebrate inner beauty and excellence in young women. We do not feature a bikini competition in any of our age divisions, as we recognize that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes. The pageant is largely judged on interview skills, pose and achievements.

Romare Smith

One of the creators, Hanani Taylor, is an accomplished actress, singer, producer and former beauty queen. She has appeared on network television shows (NBC, FOX, BET, etc.), has had lead roles in films and was even featured as a top 40 contestant on American Idol. In pageantry, she had the honor of reigning as National American Miss Ohio Talent 2004, National American Miss Ohio Actress 2004, National Actress NAM 2004, Jr. Miss Talent International 2006, National American Miss Ohio Spokesmodel 2006, National American Miss Ohio Actress 2006, National American Miss Ohio Talent 2006, Miss Columbus Teen 2013, Miss Teen Ohio 2013, and Miss California American Teenager 2014. Taylor has also coached pageant girls and has an extensive knowledge of pageantry and connections within the international pageant world.

Our other creator, Romare Smith, is a lifelong California resident with connections to many businesses and outreach opportunities in the state. As a gifted athlete, actor, model and producer, Smith has starred in feature films and gained national recognition due to athletic success, making a name for himself within the sports and entertainment worlds.
