Mind Live 2017,

Stylus, Leeds, England, United Kingdom Stylus, Leeds, England, United Kingdom

  • About the event

'Mind Live 2017' is a Charity Concert, organised by a Masters Student at University of Leeds. The event will consist of 6 mainstream Pop/RnB performers taking to the Stylus stage to a 1,000 crowd.

The event is a not for profit concert, with 100% of ticket sales going to Mind Charity, to help raise awareness and help for those suffering with Mental Health illnesses. The aim is to create a Mental Health awareness day at the University, as mental health is a huge concern in today's society, especially within young individuals such as students. The event will be held on the evening of Thursday 1st June 2017. Tickets will be on sale in April 2017, and a huge publicity and promotional campaign will be in place for the same month, including flyers, print media and a promotional radio campaign.

    Why should you sponsor?

As the organiser, i've experienced Mental Health issues at a young age, and once seeing how much of a problem it is in today's soceity, I strongly believe charities such as Mind, need as much help as possible. Through the power of music, and social events at the University, this event will look to raise between £15,000 - £20,000 for the chosen charity. The organisation of the event is being done via myself and other Masters students, rather than using third party event planners, therefore this would be a great opportunity to pursue my own career, as well as bring huge awareness to such a prestigious University for their support towards the issue.

    Ben Acton

I'm currently studying MA Music and Management at University of Leeds. After growing up in a single parent, working class family in North Devon, ambitions and future prospects we're fairly tarnished, not many young individuals continue to further education, especially when coming from a working class background.

At present, i'm 22 years old, and I've accomplished my undergraduate degree in London, and now challenging myself even further by choosing a Masters program at Leeds. Throughout the 22 years, i've experienced many personal struggles which has motivated me even more to accomplish my dreams, and pursue a career within the Music & Events industry. Therefore i decided to accept this project myself, with the support of Mind Charity and University of Leeds Union. This event can be seen as a personal project to help gain experience in the industry without using third party organisations. Although the main aim is to help raise awareness and funds for Mental Health. I've spent the previous eight weeks researching Mental Health, which has included visiting counselling centres, taking part in focus groups and listening in on support groups. The conclusion I personally found, was there's a huge stigma attached to Mental Health, therefore I would like to change this mindset, starting off with students.
