About the event
Through our choices as participants in fashion we play a key part in shaping the direction of the industry. The current fast fashion industry systematically exploits people, particularly those in poverty, and degrades natural environments. Together we can positively transform our industry.
Our event aims are:
• To give consumers an understanding of the negative impacts of the fashion industry and in turn, the positive impacts of sustainable fashion; to empower them to make conscious choices.
• To provide a platform for innovative designers to showcase their ethical clothing and production lines.
• To hold an engaging, unique and stylish event using sustainable means to promote ethical fashion.
Why should you sponsor?
Unknown to many, the fashion industry is one of the largest contributers to global waste and climate change. We need to work together to create a sustainable future for generations to come.
This is a not-for-profit event run entirely by passionate volunteers and we could really use your support. Your sponsorship will go directly towards:
Equipment hire (eg. microphone, speakers, lighting, chairs, red carpet, decor)
Advertising costs (printing posters and social media adverts)
Any profit made from this event will go towards hiring a videographer to document next years CERES Global sustainable fashion program in India. Footage that will then be used to spread these messages even further.
Support us to inform the public about this issue and excite them about new sustainable fashion possiblities.
This project is a collaboration between fashion designer Ellajaz Toll-Bujeya (Ella), environmentalist Rhiarnna Bishop (Rhi). Rhi and Ella are recent graduates of La Trobe University - Bachelor of Outdoor Education degree (both majored in nature tourism).
We built a strong friendship in university, bonding over a love of fashion. In the last semester of our degree, we undertook a sustainable fashion internship to India run by Ceres Global; here this project was born. Amidst harsh working conditions and environmental degradation, we found brands and advocates working to redefine the industry towards economic, social and environmental sustainability. We are inspired to share the stories of such designers and let people know that they can be part of positive change within the industry.
