Lost Bond Project,

London, England, United Kingdom London, England, United Kingdom

  • About the event

We are Lost Bond, a non-profit collective/platform run by three 18-year olds: me and two friends who are trying to start a narrative on the topic of mental health through conversation but more crucially through different artistic mediums. We currently have several projects undergo which i shall outline below, i write to you to enquire whether you may be interested in helping fund our projects. Our primary goal is to positively change the perceived stigma of poor mental health through conversation and artistic expression. We want people to feel comfortable opening up to find help and support and to use their experiences and insights to benefit other sufferers. To achieve this goal, we have several projects undergo which we believe are all helping raise awareness for the topic of mental health in a way which is also positively changing the existing negative stigma.

Firstly, we are currently making a short film which addresses four polar-opposite emotions; trust and distrust; fear and anger; joy and sadness and anticipation and surprise, all highlighting the emotions one feels every day. The story is built upon the inherent complexity and duality of human nature and our ability to feel multiple, competing and contradictory emotions, all conveyed through the presence and actions of the ‘silent killer’, a character who personifies the dark shadows of a disturbed mind. The character, lurking in the background and coming to the fore, represents the proximity and unpredictability of challenges to our mental health.

Secondly, we are currently designing a unisex streetwear collection which is inspired by the emotions associated with mental health. The collection is a reflection of the human psyche; a journey through mental health, capturing both the darkness and fear of our anxieties as well as the beauty and power of a positive, confident and happy state of mind. We will have an event where we will showcase the collection at a fashion show. The event will also be made up of exciting elements which will express opposing emotions in interesting ways, furthermore young artists and musicians working with us will display visual art and perform live music.

Finally for now, we have recently released the first video of our ‘Speakeasy’ IGTV (Instagram) series in which we compile stories shared with us by members of the public addressing their relationship with and understanding of their own mental health. By doing this we are allowing a conversation around the topic to start and gather momentum. By sharing our experiences, we can normalise the way we feel and reassure each other that we are not alone in our struggles. The Speakeasy series aims to show how the arts can be powerful in providing a coping mechanism for mental health struggles. By channelling emotions into creating something beautiful we have the capacity to reduce negative feelings and encourage positive outcomes.

    Why should you sponsor?

Currently we are relying on donations to help us fund the film, the fashion collection, and our upcoming event. If Lost Bond sounds like a project you may be interested in helping fund, we would be delighted to discuss further details with you. Thank you very much in advance.

    All the best.
