    Saray Karakus

    Saray Karakus

Saray Karakus’ passion for theatre began in 2008 where she worked as part of various theatre groups before joining the London Alevi Cultural Centre and Cemevi Theatre Group in 2009 and since then, Saray has continued working with London Emek Theatre at Millfield Arts Centre. She has written and directed plays of several genres that have delivered messages which aimed to resonate in the hearts of the audience. Her most recent production which received an award by the Mayor of Enfield, “Stage for Peace” was written from the viewpoint of a dove and reflected a love of humanity regardless of religion, race, language, gender or borders. Standing next to the oppressed against the oppressor whilst serving for humanity has always been her way of life and Saray has skilfully threaded this message throughout her plays over the years. She has also cast in Best European Independent Documentary winner, “From Gazi to Gezi: a stones throw away.” Saray believes that theatre is an art that sets wide the window from which we view the world and hopes that this festival will be the first of many which enlightens people to become more involved in theatre.
