About our event
This event is a musical presented by the 21 students studying performing arts nationally recognised qualifications at Emergent Academy. There are SIX shows being presents during the run. Three are for General public and Three are for community access shows for school aged children, old aged care and those facing financial hardship. SYNOPSIS: Little Women: The Musical is a heartwarming adaptation of Louisa May Alcott's classic novel, bringing to life the adventures and tribulations of the March sisters—Jo, Meg, Beth, and Amy—as they come of age during the American Civil War. The story is set in Concord, Massachusetts and revolves around the headstrong and independent Jo March, who dreams of becoming a successful writer. Through a series of vignettes, the musical captures the essence of sisterhood, love, and personal growth.
Jo struggles with societal expectations while striving to find her own voice. Meg navigates the challenges of marriage, Beth faces a serious illness with grace and courage, and Amy embarks on a journey of artistic self-discovery in Europe. Their mother, Marmee, holds the family together with wisdom and strength while their father is away at war.
The story is punctuated by memorable songs like 'Astonishing', 'Some Things Are Meant to Be', and 'The Fire Within Me' which highlight the emotional and aspirational journeys of the characters. Little Women: The Musical is a touching portrayal of family, ambition, and the enduring bonds that hold us together, making it a timeless and beloved tale for audiences of all ages.
