    SPONSORSHIP PROPOSAL – LISDOON-AFRICA FESTIVAL MARCH 2018

The Organizers of the Lisdoon-Africa Festival wish to submit this sponsorship proposal to a Sponsor regarding the Lisdoon-Africa Festival which is a first time ever of its kind Irish Country & Matchmaking Festival in South Africa from the 9th to the 18th of March 2018.

    INTRODUCING THE ORGANIIZERS:

Marleze Kruger (Nolan) attended the legendary 161 year old Matchmaking Festival in Lisdoonvarna, County Clare, Ireland in September 2017 where not only she was introduced to the best of the best country music performers, lively dancing and good fun and food, but also to the legendary Willie Daly – the last Irish traditional Matchmaker.  More than 66,000 people attended this month long festival and some has been going to these festivals for over 50 years consecutively.  Not only did she meet some of the most famous Irish country musicians, but also found it was such a great platform to meet new people and from all walks of life and of any marital status.

Marleze received a huge amount of publicity and was in every newspaper, on almost every radio station and on national television, as she was the first ever South African to attend this festival.  At the end of the festival, she was offered an opportunity to be an ambassador for the festival in South Africa, thus the reason for this event.  “The main focus of this event is to let my fellow South Africans experience the magic of such a vibrant event, social dancing and loads of laughter and in Irish terms “a good craig”” she explained to the Women’s Way magazine editor in December 2017.

Marleze just returned from a six week visit to meet up with more musicians and to arrange the Lisdoon-Africa event, and have a whole lot of people from Ireland who will be attending the festival here in South Africa in March, and the organizers of the Lisdoonvarna Matchmaking Festival will be promoting on their web site as well to attract even more people and a new article will be published in the Women’s Way magazine about her attendance to their festival and the Lisdoon-Africa Festival.  Since her return, the amount of guests wanting to come to the Lisdoon-Africa festival has been growing by the day.

As a further introduction of the organizers, Carla Taylor and Brian Brennan, directors of An Sean-Teach Ltd, producers of Irish Liquor with brands Brennan’s Old House Irish Botanical Gin and an Irish liqueur DV8, have solid relationships with the Irish Embassy in South Africa and the Irish Ambassador will be opening these events for us in person.   Their brands are being exported to South Africa for quite some time as well.

    ABOUT THE FESTIVAL:

    LISDOONVARNA – MATCHMAKING FESTIVAL DESCRIPTION:

The streets ring out with music and song, buzzing with dance, the craic and love for life. Bars and pubs headline some of the top names in country music, and from dance floor to cosy tables, the little town of Lisdoonvarna in the west of Ireland is full of the promise and passion of ‘meeting your friends or perhaps your match’. This is the Lisdoonvarna Matchmaking Festival – the biggest event of its kind in Europe and part of the rich tradition of rural Ireland. A chance to gather and celebrate life, love, good music and great times! This year, some 66 000 people will once more take their place at the Festival – for six weekends of fun, party, music, friendship and perhaps romance – make sure YOU are one of them…

MEET THE MAN HIMSELF – WILLIE DALY, THE TRADITIONAL MATCH-MAKER

While the festival has moved into the 21st century, Willie still believes in the old fashioned method of round the table talks with couples and getting the passion flowing by getting them dancing together.

Ireland’s most famous matchmaker is Willie Daly, whose time to shine is at the Lisdoonvarna Matchmaking Festival. His passion is to help hopeful singles, of all ages and nationalities, find a life partner and have a lot of fun on the way. Since he started out as a Matchmaker 45 years ago, following in his father’s and grandfather’s footsteps, Willie has set up around 3,000 marriages.

Willie took over the matchmaking business from his father back in the 1960’s – and back then the job was mostly about helping shy farmers pluck up the courage to meet a suitable lady. The farmers, who often lived and worked on very remote farms, had poor social skills, especially when it came to socializing with women and ‘courting’.

Willie carries around what he calls his ‘Lucky Book’ – a precious notebook of love-seeking profiles which is about 150-years-old. He explains, “If you touch this ‘love ledger’ you’ll be married and in love inside of six months. If you are already married, you will recreate the honeymoon period you first had”.

Romantic Ireland will never be dead and gone, not while Willie Daly, has a hand to play in the age old art of ‘courting’.

The Lisdoon-Africa festival will run over ten days, 9th to 18 March 2018, and have a VIP Venue as well as an open venue.  VIP Members will have accommodation included and membership is required.  The VIP events will be on a bushveld lodge outside Brits, and the open event will be held over two dates, 10th and 17th March 2018.

We have sourced seven different Irish country bands performing and the open festival will be from 14:00 to midnight, ticket sales will be online and at the venue.

At the VIP Venue the maximum amount of ticket sales will be one thousand five hundred, which some include accommodation.  Guests will have the benefit of personal interaction with band members, lunch and dinner will be available from food stalls and excursions at an additional charge.

    DETAILS OF TARGET MARKET:

From our Facebook group, the interest amongst South Africans has already grown without us even starting with a marketing campaign, which is scheduled for 1st of February 2018 targeting 8m facebook users interested in dancing, country music and festivals, and to date we have local guests that has booked accommodation to attend this event from various parts of Gauteng and the North West provinces.

At the time of Marleze’s return from Ireland early January 2018, there were at least 250 people from Ireland wanting to attend the festival, and awaiting the web site to go live on 1 February 2018 to confirm their bookings.

    MEDIA AND MARKET PR PLAN:

The organizers of the Lisdoonvarna Matchmaking festival will also attend and will be bringing a team of film producers with to put a programme together for one of their television stations in Ireland, Scotland and England, which will be of great value for the Sponsor.

A new article will be released this coming week in the Women’s Way magazine in Ireland about the festival being taken to South Africa, and the event organizers of Lisdoon-Africa will also be advertising in Irish Newspapers and on radio marketing the event.

    CONFIRMED SPONSORSHIPS:

Primedia has contacted us and is willing to sponsor the marketing of the Lisdoon-Africa event on 94.7 and in print media as well as street pole ads and on their websites.  We will be running some competitions as well from 1st of February 2018 when some of the musicians’ music will be played on air.

Ethiopian Airlines will be sponsoring the return flights of 26 musicians and/or stakeholders to the Lisdoon-Africa festival, and we are currently in negotiations regarding promotional offers to the Irish visitors who will be booking their flights through a link from our web site.

Several posters will be put up at the dancing venues across the whole of Ireland about the Lisdoon-Africa festival.  These dances are attended by somewhat 5,500 regulars three to four times a week.

    FUTURE GROWTH:

This will be our first event of its kind in South Africa and we have received numerous requests from the bands and Irish guests to have another festival soon in the Western Cape as well.  Our intentions are to have these festivals once a year and create the same culture and experience as the Lisdoonvarna Matchmaking Festival in Ireland.

    Why should you sponsor?

    REQUIRED SPONSORSHIP INVESTMENT:

We managed to secure the VIP Venue, but are open to other suggestions.  As a result of the volumes that would like to attend, we urgently need to secure a much larger venue for the 10th and 17th of March 2018 – with the 17th of March being St Patrick’s Day, it could be of great benefit to the Sponsor to perhaps host this event at one of the casino’s that has a large enclosed performance hall where the people can also dance, which is near to pubs and restaurants.  Since we have a large amount of bands, the possibility is also to have the musicians perform at different locations.

We hereby would like for you to attend our festival and we would like the Sponsor to be our main sponsors of the event.  We would be delighted to promote and market the Sponsor in association with Lisdoon-Africa locally and abroad.

To date the event and everything that has been done was sponsored by Marleze Kruger in her personal capacity, this was purely due to the time restraint on hand with the event being a month and a half away.

The investment we seek is a cash sponsorship of R1,2m to allow us to secure the open venue, pay for all the deposits for the musicians, hiring of the equipment, paying the events management company for setting up the stages and décor, and to finish off the web site www.matchmakingfestival.co.za with a proper ticketing system.

We further seek Sasol’s involvement in supplying us with as much as possible marketing and advertising material such as Sponsor banners and flags to put up at the venues.
