  • About the event

I write on behalf of HACKATHONGIRLS, BANJUL to ask for your support and partnership in the official launching of the above mentioned in The Gambia.

HackathonGirls, Banjul is a group of young dynamic ladies that are already in technology, who work together to empower and encourage more females into the field of technology to break the stereotype most girls face in their communities. We also work on the skills we already have by learning from each other and improving on our skills such as programming, web development etc, likewise embark and engage in IT projects and competitions.

Currently we are running a project called Mozilla club of HackathonGirls which was preceded by Juma Baldeh, founder of HackathonGirls, Banjul and she is the club captain of the club. The club focuses on teaching and learning the web for young girls from the age of 8 to 18 years old and it is run by volunteers and teaches girls how to safely read, write and participate on the web. We meet weekly where we teach skills like privacy, coding and more hands on activities and the American corner, we use as our venue.

Being the first Mozilla club in The Gambia, the club captain of Mozilla club of HackathonGirls, Banjul, Juma Baldeh, a product engineer and leader from the Gambia will be speaking and presenting the club launching holding on Saturday, 28th January, 2017.
