My name is Laura Larkin, and I am the founder and director of the Delia Foundation.
As a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for foster children in Maricopa County for 15 Years. I worked on 16 cases with 34 children and became a Peer Coordinator for 6-10 Volunteers at a time. With my work as an advocate, I became interested in volunteering abroad with NGO Global
Volunteers which led me to volunteer seven times with disabled orphans in Barlad, Romania.
I met Delia when she was just a baby; she was born without full limbs. I feel in love with her and her friends at the orphanage, when I found out that they are unable to attend school because of their disabilities, myself and some friends decided this was unacceptable. See when these children turn eighteen they are moved to an adult institution to live out there life. I have now made it my mission to show that these children are capable of beautiful things, and they most definitely deserve an education.
My passion has led me to create The Delia Foundation, where I can work with children and seniors, both of which have been her life-long passions.
