About the event
The Miami-Dade County Hispanic Affairs Advisory Board was established in May 1992, by the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners to improve the quality of life of Hispanic citizens – to identify and monitor the needs and/or interests of Hispanic citizens, develop programs addressing such issues, encourage involvement of Hispanics in matters of community concerns, support the development of Hispanics in leadership roles, and recommend to the Board of County Commissioners legislation supporting Hispanic issues.
The Miami-Dade County Hispanic Affairs Advisory Board is asking for your support by sponsoring our inaugural Hispanic Advocate of the Year event. The event will celebrate and highlight advocates and leaders in Miami-Dade County, who work tirelessly for the betterment of Hispanic and minority issues in our community.
We are also happy to announce that we will be launching our scholarship program during this event, in an effort to award minority college students with scholarships. We kindly ask for your support to assist us in fulfilling our scholarship program goals.

I believe that if we all contribute we can make greater impact. We have a lot of work to do to inform people of service available, the issues that may affect them, as well as advocate for people so their needs are heard and considered when decisions are made.
