About the event
We are creating a show were we can celebrate, give recognition to and make us feel proud of being women. The show will present the audience with 3 stories of brave women who believe in their inner strength and spirit and who speak loudly to make a positive change in this world. We will do this by performing a variety of dance styles accompanied with live music.
HERSTORY
Herstory is a dance show that celebrates three brave women and their stories. Through these stories, we are reminded that small scale or large scale of meaningful actions and persistence can lead a positive change.

Our vision is to be a dance movement recognized not only for the quality of our performance, but also for our social responsibility.
Conscious of the potential that women have to empower their communities, Divas Dance Company partners with organizations supporting women from all backgrounds.
Our future goal is to build a dance company with the female residents of jail in San Diego. We will aim to create a space where dance can be used as a means for reinsertion into civil society. I have previously worked in a similar social project with disadvantaged youths in Peru, that proved very successful. The dance company transformed these youths from a social problem in the streets to a cultural and economic asset to society. We feel this positive use of dance is a creative avenue for self-worth, and will allow these San Diego women to once again become productive members of society.
Diana FollegatiMy name is Diana Follegati and I am from Perú. I've been dancing in my country for more than 20 years and have brought my love for dance to the U.S. 3 years ago.
This amazing journey I've been on has helped me to improve myself and become what I am now... A woman who always strives to become the better version of herself.
In 2013 I was blessed to teach dance classes to the female residents of a jail in Lima, Perú. It was then when I found my higher purpose in dance. I found that my art has another meaning beyond just myself on stage. Through this experience I learned that dance could be the vehicle to bring freedom, hope and happiness to those that needed it.
