Her Focus,

Victoria, Australia Victoria, Australia

  • About the event

Photography has been historically a male-dominated field and in many ways this is still the case. However, since the inception of photography, women have played a critical role in shaping the narratives of their communities and used the medium to advocate for a cause — often while tackling stereotypes of what women can and should photograph.

There is a certain level of authenticity that comes from work produced by photographers who have a direct connection to what they photograph. Great photography can inspire, educate and shift perspectives — and it’s often women who are at the forefront of this movement.

    Why should you sponsor?

Her Focus is a photography exhibition for women from marginalised backgrounds. Traditionally, photography has been a medium dominated by men, with women and people from marginalised backgrounds being the core subjects of their gaze. This exhibtion highlights women in photography who are photographing their lived experiences or their communities. Sponsoring this event will enable these women to develop their photography work and showcase a new perspective on a male dominated art form. Sponsors will recieve the opportunity to tap into audiences in the Western suburbs of Melbourne through logo placements and our large audiences through our social media platforms.
