Jenn Shares An Engaging Multimedia Growth Mindset Program For School Assemblies

Jenn grew up being told she was dumb. In school she was afraid to participate in the classroom because she didn’t want people to find out the truth that she was not smart.

It took Jenn years to discover she wasn’t dumb she just had a fixed mindset that stopped her from learning.

This revelation inspired her to write “Jean & The Wonderful Idea Machine.” This story is about a girl who invents a machine that changes worried thoughts to wonderful ideas. Even though people told her that it was impossible to build a machine like that Jean overcame all the obstacles to succeed.

This presentation teaches students how to open up their minds to have a growth mindset and to trust and develop their unique ideas.

    Jenn incorporates into her presentation:

    • Animated storytelling
    • A colorful slide presentation
    • Live original music
    • Interactive songs & stories
    • Empowering growth mindset messages

    About Jenn

Jenn August is a youth motivational speaker, positive mindset educator, recording artist, and author. Jenn’s ground breaking positive mindset work caught the attention of Jack Canfield’s organization the Association for Transformational Leaders where she became a member in 2013. She believes in the importance of education and the power of music to connect with young people in a meaningful way. This allows her to effectively convey the value of academics, passion, and other tools of success that will help students achieve their goals.

Growing up, Jenn struggled in school because of undiagnosed ADD, depression and dyslexia. She received messages in school and at home that she was stupid. Luckily, Jenn discovered the guitar and started writing music at the age of 10 years old. She found a passion that created a powerful sense of self-esteem and confidence.

As an adult Jenn toured nationally and internationally as a singer songwriter and released five albums of original music. Knowing how much music changed her life as a child she started a musical empowerment school for children in Berkeley California called August Harvest Arts. Jenn used guitar and songwriting lessons to help her students discover their unique voice and to teach the how to develop a positive learning mindset. Jenn taught her students to reframe mistakes as feedback and gave them powerful tools to transform self-criticism into curiosity and a hunger for learning.

Jenn took her desire to help children learn positive mindset tools by writing a book called “Jean & The Wonderful Idea Machine” a story educating children about the power of their passions and how to open their minds up to their creative, innovative ideas and possibilities. Jenn turned the book into a musical which will be having it’s world premier at the Portland Musical Theater Company in 2018. Currently, Jenn tours and speaks with K-12, college, and graduate students at assemblies, workshops, and conferences around the world.
