FIU Honors PUSH Spin Class,

Florida International University, Miami, Florida, United States Florida International University, Miami, Florida, United States

  • About the event

FIU Honors PUSH stands for Panthers Unite in Support of Health.  The club began because of a group of students from the Honors College at Florida International University who conducted research on weight gain in college and the advantages of healthy eating and a proper exercise regimen.  The first event of the fall semester will be a Spin Class offered to students and faculty in order to promote proper exercise throughout the school.  Students will have the opportunity to interact with other students and find "gym buddies" in order to encourage them to maintain the habit of exercising.  Since this is a student-run event, we need your support to hydrate the participants as well as give them small snacks throughout the event to ensure their energy levels stay high throughout the day.  We appreciate every little bit of support!

    Why should you sponsor?

This event is directly affecting the future of this world.  The students of FIU PUSH have worked hard to develop an organization that will instill the proper education and changes the habits of students throughout Florida International University so that we have a healthy student body.  Supporting this event will allow you to have free advertising as your logo will be placed on every flyer, email, and social media post about the Spin Class that will be available to over 2,500 students. But more than a marketing opportunity, you are giving students the opportunity to exercise and educate themselves on safe, proper exercise habits.

    Ana Valentin

My name is Ana Valentin and I am an executive board member of FIU Honors PUSH.  My title is as Newspaper Editor and I work on educating students about health and wellness through an online newsletter. Currently, I am an undergraduate student studying Biomedical Engineering at Florida International University.  My main goal is to be able to help people, particularly the youth, through preventative measures through proper diet and exercise.  PUSH was created based on a research project conducted by myself and several other students on the causes and effects weight gain in college.  We want to facilitate good habits from the start, rather than having adults find out that they have high cholesterol, heart conditions, or a shorter lifespan due to their poor choices when they were much younger.  Through education, I want to change the stigma of the "Freshman 15."
