Smoky Hills Public Television is a non-profit public television station that has served the mostly rural population in central and western Kansas since 1982, providing educational public television and broadcasting it signal free to any Kansan with an antenna.  In addition, our programming is provided by 14 cable operators in 194 communities in central and western Kansas and with direct broadcast satellite through Dish Network and DirecTV.  Our signal reaches into 70 counties, including the cities of Hutchinson and Wichita, offering programming to over 1.2 million potential viewers.

The station is truly rural, from our studio in downtown Bunker Hill, population 95, to our viewing area.  Thirty-two of the 54 counties in our viewing area are classified as completely rural and 54% of our potential viewers live in rural areas.

More than just a television station, the institution of Smoky Hills Public Television is a community resource, owned by the citizens it serves and governed by a board of directors elected from its financial supporters.  Smoky Hills Public Television's mission is to nourish curiosity with telecommunications that enrich people’s lives and make Kansas a better place to live and work.
